Hey, I need some help. I have a 2000 pontiac GTP. I know when the traction control is off ( with light on ) and abs light on it means a bad hub. But my car has no issues abs light is not on or any other light.
Only problem I have is when I click the traction control button it wont turn the traction on. It is permanently off which doesn't bother me. Just curious if its a bad fuse,switch or something else that is more major that I have to replace.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it light up when you first turn the key on?
Looks into a burnt bulb first.

All bulbs work. None burnt out. Switch wont toggle it on or off. I know because I can burn the tires easily with button clicked.

Beats me, take it apart and see if the contacts for the button are bad.
Also when you turn the vehicle on, the traction control is ON. You must hit the button to disable it. So burning the tires off with the button clicked is suppose to happen. No vehicle made has the traction control disabled when you start the car, they all require you to disable it somehow. It's a safety feature.Only problem I have is when I click the traction control button it wont turn the traction on

So some how the "Saftey feature" is disabled in mine. So not sure if wire is dead/disconnected etc etc or what. Will check to see if button is bad, but was just wondering if it could be something other then a bad button or fuse or something.

best to find a shop that can scan abs codes. t/c light on all the time is abs related, the code that is stored in the bcm is the path to repairing it, or your just guessing and tossing money at it.

In that case I'd find a scanner that can read ABS and wheel speed sensor codes just to see if anything pops up.

Appreciate the help. Going to go grab an OBD2 reader today that can scan it.

make sure its a abs scanner, the cheap code reader will not do abs codes. abs scanners start at a $100 or more.
if you stop by a few shops you'll find one that has a real scanner, if lucky they'll scan it for free. most will charge you 20 or 30 bucks as a diag fee.

This happened to me to, but it was when I replaced the bulb for Trac off that I found out it was off all the time. And just to make sure, I spun the wheels.
I also don't have an abs light or any check engine lights.
I thought it might be the dic itself but I'm not sure
