I have recently discovered my 1999 grand prix se ails with the common rear strut towers rusting. They look pretty bad but are not rusting through, yet. The whole car needs a new suspension but im leery of spending the money fixing all of that when I've been itching to get a different car.

I've been shopping around for a 06-07 GP GT or a Comp G With lower miles. I would prefer the 06-07 GT, hoping i dont have to deal with leaky LIM gaskets. What is everyone's opinion on this? Drop $$ fixing a SE or sell it while i can and get a supercharged GP? I value everyones opinions on this forum so lay it on me.

I'd urge you to get away from the rust and pick up a newer car. My 08 has been pretty good on maintenance and repairs but I have tackled a lot of things on my own.

Also, my 08 is already showing some decent surface rust - bottoms of rear doors and inside the cavity in front of the front door hinges. Look for a clean one with no rust.

My 06 is in great shape. I'm glad I got It. Love it more than my 97.

Not really. They all can have the same problems. If the 04-05 is a gtp comp g I would definitly say a 06-07 gts are not better

There are tons of GPs out there and shopping for a new car can be fun unless you badly need a new car(stressful). I inherited my wife's 04 GP at 101,000 miles and some rust just under the gas cap door. Much smoother ride than the old 98 Grand Am and enjoying the leather seats and sunroof.
Sounds like your car is ready to become a money pit and if you have to spend money do it on something a bit newer and better condition to begin with.

The 06-08 have a much better interior. The quality difference in the 06-08 is noticable. The 04 year is a joke

Thats why we bought our 04, we have a good sense of humor. No major problems here at 101,000 miles and yes interior needs shampoo but otherwise good. Could have something to do with no kids. Heard they are hard on cars and nerves. Lol.

Ehh I'd get what I can find for a decent price with low mileage.. Yea the 06 interior is quite a bit nicer but all those things you can easily add down the road if you happen to find a good deal on 04-05

I've been looking around for decent low mileage supercharged GP's and it seems like everyone wants a grand or two more than the car books for. I was at a local car show last weekend and there was a couple regular cab Ram 1500's that I thought looked cool. Probably not practical if kids are in my future in the next couple years, but this murdered out one on 22s looked mean. Decisions, decisions......

Look at Regals, Bonnevilles etc. There's other SC cars out there.

I havent expanded my search much past the Sioux Falls area, but the few Regals and Bonnevilles on Craigslist are 200k+ miles and/or falling apart. I would take a supercharged version of either car though; my uncle had a NA Bonneville and it was a comfortable/nice looking car.
