I got myself in a bit of a bind. The 3.8 Series II in my 1998 GT needs to be replaced, and i got a parts car from a friend. Said parts car was "supposed" to be a 2001 with a 3.8 Series II in it, it was delivered to my house while I was at work, and turned out being a 2001 SE with the 3.1 in it. Imagine my face when I saw the engine....... I was wondering, what would I all have to do to swap the 3.1 into my 1998 GT. Just the motor, or would i be stuck doing a complete swap including the computer? The parts car is fully intact, excluding front body parts that were used to repair another SE I assume. Any help, input, or comments would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I am going to try trading the parts car to a local Auto Salvage yard for a 1998 Buick regal 3.8 motor(106,407 miles), that they have listed in inventory for $499.99.

trade it for the used engine, fast lol that 3100 is not gonna be worth swapping it.

take what ever you can use off the parts car and trade it.

Trade it. Save yourself lots of time. See if they will throw a trans in too.
