After I did my VC gaskets, I had a nice amount of smoke, even though I really didn't see any additional oil from changing the gaskets, they were already covered in burned oil. I used half a can of brake cleaner and "hosed" it down, a little more smell and that was it. Still bone dry today. The rear VC gasket is a little more work to change. Still not bad, I've done so much more in depth things on my car so I'm past that. And after that gasket, not much oil smell followed it. I didn't even clean it very well because I couldn't get the brake clean can back there. A tip would be to make sure you have a backup set of coolant elbows.

The alt bracket had to be moved

    Finally off

The bolts that had to be loosened

    Nice new gasket/grommets

I always seem to work into the night a little. Doesn't matter when I start, I always end at around the same time (it seems)

@Below Average Joe screw the tips, I am working on exhaust. I have a hole facing the cabin of the car. The car sounds GREAT from the outside but it is loud as hell inside. I am tired of hearing about Magnaflow complete exhaust so I am weighing options...

See I didn't go crazy spraying brake clean on the valve valley itself. I got the cover nice and clean but on the part still in car i just used a rag with cleaner on it and rubbed.

NavyB.. I like how a valve cover job involved a torch and two 20lb propane tanks. YIkes!

Actually if you loosen the bolts..you can sneak the valve cover out w/o removing the bracket.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well yeah, this is the area. You can see all of the oil. There's a lot, this was before changing it.

After changing it, before using brake clean

And the rear cover gasket wasn't too bad.

I honestly can't remember where I used the torch lol. It wasn't the VC's obviously. And yes, I need an extra 40 lbs of propane sometimes to get bolts off. Just torch the entire area and voila!
The Chilton manual mentioned taking the brackets out, and of course I listened(I should have known better not to listen to everything the Chilton says) But hey I could do it again in 1/3 of the time.

Bath time and found my tranny really low on fluid. I'm wondering where this leak is coming from.

I got my dash cam. It records good quality 720p. Sweet, now to set it up and get it hooked up to power that's on only with the key.

Also my computer won't read the memory card, but my other windows 7 computer will...why? idk. They're nearly the same computer. I'll be back after windows re-installs.

Edit: back. Completely re-installed windows in about 28 minutes

I know where its coming from. Let me enlighten you. The transmission in out cars get hungry and have to eat and drink. They primarily drix a pinkish fluid that I think is kinda bitter and they eat little shards of metal. So there fore requires u to refill the transmission fluid and every now and then add metal shards in with it when u add fluid.

Noticed power steering was a little whiny this morning so I stopped at Advance and picked up some Lucas power steering fluid. Took me a bit to find the damn lid to the power steering, and when I did I realized I wasn't going to add any while the car was still hot. Stupid GM.

Yes, my point was when the car is hot you are going to burn the eff out of yourself trying to add fluid.
