I can't really be sure on that one.
I was a bit concerned since it was loudest at the bottom of the engine, but I've heard any type of rod knocks don't get better after a few seconds of running.

Maybe I'll stick to a synthetic blend or conventional oil instead of the full syn. Sometimes engines that have been using conventional their whole life aren't happy with synthetic because of the different flow properties. I have heard many times people would say with synthetic on a higher mileage engine, their lifters make more noise, and going back to conventional it stops. One guy even went as far as saying his engine didn't like mobil 1 synthetic, but was fine with another brand of full syn.

Pull your serpentine belt and start it up to see if it still happens, it could be the bearings on a pulley\power steering\water pump\etc.

I used valvoline synthetic on my first oil change, I tried seeing if I had any start up vids from the valvoline syn but I don't think so.

Why are you running such a low thermostat? I've always heard that 160 was way to low. Don't forget the heater core, you have 2 things left to complete your brand new cooling system, lol JK.

Filled it's greedy little belly, and got double points on the fillup.

Currently at 2,XXX points. Going for 9K. At 4700 you get .40 off a gallon. At 9K it's a full dollar

The local stations are owned by a company FL Roberts. They have a decent little plan. But most of the places or suppliers have some kinda little thing going on to save a few cents.

So the local grocery store has coins (gold, silver, etc) with a gold coin at FL they give ya 20 cents off per gallon, with silver it's 5 cents and the local store gave me a 6 month free trial for a silver card. Which is equivalent to unlimitied silver coins, even at the pump. Automatically I'm doing 5 cents cheaper than the rest, add in double points on Tues and going for their points at it's best payback of 9000 for a buck off.

172 seems a bit low to me, might want to try a 180 or the stock 195.

^^This, the engine is designed to run at a specific temperature. Just like it overheating can be harmful, so can running it at to low of a temperature, although obviously the harm it causes is not as severe as overheating. If you have KR, fix the reason you have KR, don't put a band-aid fix on it that cause other long-term problems.
