It'll be fine if he leaves the blue he has now, but no more. Lol

It's actually looking really good so far, and the bumper swap will make it into a beautiful car.

Plus it's an almost complete conversion he's doing, which I really like seeing. It's one of the best examples of built, not bought.

I wish I could believe this. You should sell 9" pieces of exhaust pipe and some clamps as a "Drone Removal Kit". LOL

I'm dead serious. When I bought n installed muffler it was too loud, nice but loud. I didn't like how the muffler sat under the bumper so I bought cut n painted that extension piece and it killed like 90% of the drone. It worked so good imma buy the same muffler when I do the y pipe install. My guess is that since I'm giving the exhaust more paythways for exit it'll be even less drone. I was actually gonna do a DIY over it since it worked so good

This sounds like something similar to how humans discovered you can drink cow milk...

Nobody thought of it, until one guy decided to try it. Everyone called him crazy.

Now we have an entire industry dedicated to it. Lol

    Ok. LOL

Think what you want, but tips do not play a role in drone. Simple as that. I'm guessing that without the tips, you heard some resonance under the back of the car. Put on a tip so the exhaust exits from behind the car rather than under it, and the resonance is gone. You have a resonator, and it takes care of most of the drone we experience.

My ride, installed Borla mufflers and Magnaflow 10" tips, brutal drone.....

Same as above, but add stock resonator, no more drone.....

Resonators are designed to reduce exhaust resonance. That's what they do.

But my milk discovery story was good, no? Lol

I wasn't talking about the tip, I was talking about the extension I put on before it. Before cold starts were Lou as crap, cruising at 15-2k was loud, the 3hr trip I make to my property on the freeway was loud. I could barely hear my musiclet alone talk on the phone with someone. Now its just deep toned, can barely hear it while I'm just cruising. My girlfriend hated the crap out of it and my kids were scared of it. Now I don't hear any complaining. It sounds pretty good unless I high rev it, you all know that sound

It was loud because it was exiting under the car.

Mmmm.... Just think of what situation the guy had to have been in to even think of trying it. Lol

And the extension on the end of the muffler is there stock, and I know stock mufflers will drone without a resonator. Maybe it's just personal preference/opinion, but I'm using a resonator every time.

Anyone on here top swapped to gen5? Is it too much with higher comp or is it better with the more efficient blower?

Top swap needs supporting mods, there's not enough difference between gen 3 and gen 5 to need much more than a slightly bigger pulley. Maybe. Biggest thing would be headers and a tune, which you already have.

If course you'll need it tuned before you start it up with the blower installed, or just take the belt off the blower and baby it to E&J. Or buy a tuner.

Yea the tune im not worried about. Plus I'll have rockers & LS6 springs that are going into the new heads. What all would change in my top swap? I would need a different Lim l, tb adapt plate, gen 5 n what else changes? Reason I ask is they're are several gen 5 top ends on craigslist close to home going for nothing n I figured I I'm doin the sea why not go gen 5....
