you need a tune if your na now and want to top swap, na tune has way to much timing. and a gen 5 on a stock pulley is as good as its gonna get. with out e85 or a intercooler. you also need headers.

I got a pcm that came outta a 99 GTP. Headers, rockers as well as a meth kit I had planned on using. So their should be no reason I could drop pulleys with that setup right? Or should I just stick with the ported gen 3?
that pcm wont work with a na tranny, aka needs a tune. meth might get you to a smaller pulley, not sure how small tho. this is where owning your own tuner comes in handy, cause you will need to play with the timing to make this all work right.
top swaps dont take canned tunes well either, its best to incar tune em to their needs.
I know the PCV is different, the evap is different, and probably something else...
You can use an L67 LIM, it just needs the inlet enlarged.
If the Gen 5 comes with L32 heads, grab those. They flow slightly better because of bigger valves, and probably have less miles.
I believe he has a shop that can tune it...
Yea the tune im not worried about. I have 3 revisions on my tune im still paid up for and thats with him already knowing im topswapping so we can either load a gtp bin onto my pcm and keep the trans bin or i upgrade diff on the trans, and use the gtp pcm which is way I'm leaning towards. issue can be fixed several dif ways but you all know that. The beauty of living in metro Detroit is they're are endless yards to pick parts from as well as craigslist having new things come up constantly. We were thinkin 3.2-3.4 with the gen 3 and mods so I I decide to go gen5 then maybe 3.5 but well see how it goes or which way I decide....
hardly the same thing as running a NA tune with a top swap.
you should run a gtp bin with the na trans file, you also want to swap the map sensor to one from a gtp, you need to cut the pig tail off and change it to the l67 style.
I was about to say, it's still a GTP tune, even if it's still stock.
I knew I forgot something... Lol
oh yea i almost forgot..... my new buffing tool i got as well as i whole crap load of car waxing and cleaning products i got for free....
gottta whole bunch of assorted goodies to make the car look fresh.....gotta love free 99 lol...
SO i made a lil bit of progress over the weekend in trying to get this stuff ready for fridays install....
I got the skirts clear coated finally after several layers of pant and a ton of wet sanding. Im not sure if it was the bondo that i used, or what but this paint just did NOT!!! wanna lay right on these. the paint kept wanting to haze up in spots as it was drying.....Imma just blame it on the fact that its a lil cold and im trying to get this done...
oh well they look perfect now.
One issue i might have is that the flaps at the bottom of the skirt had a cut in the plastic and the bondo didnt wanna close it up without me using one of those body sticks. wasnt able to use them because of clearance issues to the wheel well so if it starts to give me probs ill have to just cut them off.
Heres one of the door panels that got messed up and fell as it was drying so i had to resand it back down and start all over..
at least its small so it didnt take long to resand and respray.....
So heres the New dash thats going on to get rid of the white one. i love this so much better. I just used semi gloss black since i had so much trouble with the MET black.
Ill end up spraying the vents white so basicly im just reversing the colors.......
So tommorow ill end up finishing sanding and fixing spots on the bumper as well as respraying one of the fenders for now. i dont think it will take me long so ill prob be able to clearcoat them too as long as the weather permits.....ill update tom night....
So friday was supposed to be the big day of putting everything on...... i had everything finished, well i had the last layer of clearcoat drying on the fender thurs and ive been bringing everything into my house because the weather has been crap. Also for those of you who do not know or who can tell from the photos , i live in a 3 story apartment so for me to finish this paint job and have it look right i have literally turned my private patio into a crack shack paint booth so this paint job can be perfect.....
anyways wayyy of topic but so i brought the fender inside to dry and got in the shower and when i got out, one of my kids or my girlfriend ( i dont know who did it) but one of them had dragged something heavy right across the fender and it had went thru all coats of clear and base coats..... i almost had a heart attack because the only way to fix it was to strip off all the paint...... i dont have any photos of the damage or of stripping the fender seein as how i speent all day yest just completely stripping the fender back down to bare metal but heres a photo of it all cleaned up with its first layer of primer....
Im still going to need to go get some filler primer and hit it with a couple coats of that and sand it down before i hit it back again with base coat, but it literally took me all day to just get the fender to look like this.......
i also went to the yard yest and picked up all the bumper inserts as well too. the plate insert i had to sand down and fill in certain spots with bondo before i painted it but it all came out good as well.
here it is as of 930 last night...
SO inserts all finished as well as the final coat of clear that was done on thurs to the bumper....
And heres the bumper all finished up with inserts added the bumper as well as pontiac logo i snagged from my SE bumper....
and this....
And the final front view.... i think the best looking shot i took of all of it..
Like i said before, all this was done in an apartment complex on the back of my private patio... with that being said, i dont think this paint job could have came out any better expecially since i rattle canned the whole entire thing... So props to the people who can make a rattlecan paintjob look like a professionally done macco or bodyshop paintjob... you all know the special attention to detail it all takes to get it to look right and you all know how much time and patience it takes to finish it up.......
I try and post more photos of the fender as i make more progress fixing it..............
Lmao
