Thread: Thinking about servicing/upgrading my fuel injectors

So I ive read up on this procedure and looks simple enough. I hear enough of the guys on here talk about "60# fuel injectors" and what not.

Ive got 175k on my ride and figured it was time to do this service anyways and saw this video and was pretty helpful to help a newb like me understand just how easy it was to do this myself!

Anyways, since it seems easy enough to do im gonna give it a go, my question is what direction to go. I was thinking about these from ZZP

From what I understand these would be an upgrade from stock. My build does not consist of a huge HP gain, as always my main goal is Efficiency and MPGs and HP in that order. Would this be the right way to go? And while im at it should I replace the fuel rails as well?

Im assuming at my current mileage I should do this as its a good chance they are starting to reach the end of there life?

These are your stock injectors.

You didn't mention your current mileage or your issues with it.

Current mileage is 175K and there are no issues that leads me to believe its a problem. Im just trying to be proactive and tackle things as they come up and thought that this could be a service/mod situation.

I used Mr. Injector in Idaho, $16 per injector gets you a pre-cleaning flow bench report, full ultrasonic cleaning, new internal sock filter, new O rings (top and bottom), new pintle, electrical test and a re-paint or exterior cleaning, all for $16 per injector plus shipping. He also flow-benches the injectors after the cleaning to insure they are balanced and sends a full report so you can see what they were before and that they are balanced now.

I would have to agree, no need to upgrade injector size if your main concerns are efficiency and MPG.
It does not even sound like there is a current problem. I would just drive it.
Sending in the injectors would be nice maintenance though and benefit your fuel efficiency, if you can afford the downtime/have another vehicle.

I too was thinking about upgrading except with a set of new 39# cobra injectors. I know a guy who has a set for $150 not sure if I should grab them or not.

Well this is all good info, Im not looking for a ton of downtime, I do have another vehicle but sounds like my best bet is to stick with what I got. When would replacing the injectors make sense? Here is my final goals with this car.

Headers, Cat back, Open cone, gen V ported and polished, drop pulley (the next step down just enough to make the mods worth it) Tune. And maybe a cam but I have no idea how to do that myself. Im sure I will have to address a few other things also but this is a long ways out

It would "make sense" to replace the injectors when they are unable to keep up with fuel delivery, the setup you listed will be just fine with stock injectors.
I've ran stock injectors just fine with a mild (XP) cam & I/C with a big pulley.
It would also "make sense" to replace them if they've failed electrically, that which you would not know without injector testing.
Send them out somewhere reputable.

Thanks I think I will just run them for now and when the car starts acting up ill look into servicing them
