Seems our GP's love to make power steering noise, I am fighting with mine right now.
If you are parked and rotate the wheel side to side and hear a whining noise that gets higher pitched with engine RPM, it is the PS pump doing it. What MIGHT help with PS noise is use a turkey baster or something to cyphen out all the fluid you can and then refill with fresh fluid. Repeat after driving a few days or 100 miles or whatever...
Also in this process bleed the steering. With the cap off, start the engine, rotate the steering wheel back and forth to the extremes like 5 times(but don't hold it there), you will see foam in the reservoir, repeat this process a few times until it looks like there is no more foam (that is the air being worked out.) Top off fluid as needed.
The axles are not going to make any noise unless the car is in motion, and if it is an outboard CV, you will hear a distinct click-click-click as it is in a turn. If you get that, turn the wheels and inspect the outer CV boots, if they are torn, then you need to fix that.
