They are both made by DEI as I recall the Python was a cheaper (or higher line can't remember). I did a lot of Viper alarms back when I worked for one company and they were good, but weren't as programable as the Crimestopper or Code Alarms I did, at least back then. You had a lot of dealer only type things on the Crimestoppers with hidden features like manual trans and configurable outputs to do alternate action (on with one press off with another press), variable pulse and so on. So if I needed to move an amp rack or do something else custom it was easier to do with one of the others I also used the VSE Quantum (now I'm dating myself) it had a lot of functions. But I installed nearly everything Excaliber, Ungo box and some others. The thing I did really like about the DEI alarms was that the door lock relays were built in instead of just a - output for a relay. My advice on picking an alarm is get one that fits what you want to do. If your just looking to start the car and have alarm functionality you can typically go with a simple remote start combo, but if you need more functions then look at your favorite alarms upper models, if you have any plans go with an upper model it's a PITA to rip out one alarm and install another one in its place later if you decide you need something that you can't do with the alarm you got.
