I seen a thread about this a few days ago; I can't find it now.

I have a 2007 Grand Prix GT. It has remote start, I THINK, I dunno for sure. I have not been able to use the remote for anything, other than the trunk button.

The remote that came with the car has a broken cover on it. When I took it apart, the little metal clip inside that holds the battery in fell right out.
It looks like it could be soldered back on maybe.

The trunk button does work, but nothing else, so I assume it is the correct remote.

The dealer gave me another remote, exact same numbers on back, off of a 2009 Chevy HHR, also with remote start.

Should I get the new remote programmed, or try to fix the old one?

Try the free route first, and solder it back on. If that doesn't work then program the other one. Unless you want an extra remote, then program the new one and fix the old one.
