what is the point of that, does it do anything?

It definitely effects second and third order harmonics...but only because it's facing a different direction. Whether that helps or hurts the sound is another story and specific to the circumstance. Try it and find out which one you like; or if you can even hear a difference.

alright,
i flipped one of the subs around so now one is sticking out and one is in,
now one the a new problem-
once again my bass knob went out, 3rd time in 3 years, and since im doing my own stuff now i dont want to take it to the sound shop,
i was just there like 30mins ago and the guy i was talking to said that they dont use them anymore and that there junk.
but i use mine everyday and i need one, but they dont have it in stock anymore and i dont know what to buy since this one is "special"
it plugs into my amp at the remote plug(like a headphone jack) and i seem to find one like that. ive found one but its 40 bucks and thats way to much
so......ummm

Do your subs share air space in the box? Flip the polarity on one of those subs if so.
Also, if you can get a schematic for the amp input and sub remote knob then just splice the wires as needed! I have extra knobs laying around if you want one.

On flip the polarity, he means to swap the wires on one of the subs. If they're in the same box with no divider, one would be canceling out the other.
By the schematic, he means an electrical diagram for the remote input and for the knob itself. If you get that, any knob could be made to work with that amp.
What kind of amp is it? And did you check ebay for a knob?

Bass knob's are dumb! I have my knobs from my audiobahn amps. Never installed em.

Switching polarity means reversing the electrical flow...basically swapping the + and - wires on the speaker terminal. It can be done at the amplifier or at the speaker

How is the box configured? Does it share air space? Or is it divided? If the subs share the same air space you are basically running isobaric. If you're running isobaric, you need half the airspace the woofers require...meaning your enclosure is twice as big as it needs to be....and one of the woofers needs to be wired out of phase. If your box isnt divided, I'd run both subs either normal or inverted...not one normal and the other inverted. If your box is divided, you're basically running two separate sealed boxes. If thats the case, leave them wired in phase.

First of all the bass knob is not a volume control if your using it like that get a better/more powerful amp/learn to set the amp properly! Start there 1st IMO

well my input.. the speaker shouldnt be switched around unless its a free air type of speaker... and as far as the bass knob... just set ya bass where you want it... and leave it alone.. moving it up and down will eventually short out the amp sooner or later... get an eq for all that... you will be much more satisfied

A free air speaker doesnt use an enclosure. You can just mount them to your rear deck. You can invert any sub. But if you're gonna invert one and not the other, it depends on your enclosure. And as for the bass knob, just get a HU with sub control.

i want i knob to control it,
i use it everyday, some songs i want massive bass and other i dont and everything in between
so i need one
i have had the same set up for 4 years and everything still works and sounds like new
only problem ive had is the bass knob thingy
couple questions
how do you know if the HU has sub control?
my box is big and open and 1' thick mdf so what does it matter if one sub is out and the other is in?
