anyone know how to disable the DRL's in a '06 GT ?

I just installed my HID fogs yesterday and now when my DRL's are on, the low beams flicker really fast and buzz...

Called DDM tuning and they said it was normal with DRL's. I have low beam HID's and fogs, both with wiring harness ( low beams didn't do this before fog install ).

Anyways I need to disable the DRL's, anyone know how? Besides pulling the fuse?

Did you have to put in a special houseing for the fogs? It was my understanding HIDs got to hot for stock housings

It shouldn't be normal if you have the relay harness because it gets full power when turned on no matter how much power switched on the relay.

Try unhooking the fogs and see if they do it then. And clean your battery terminals and tighten them.

Do you have DRL low beams or DRL signals?

no, HID's are fine in housings, they don't get that hot.

they were just cleaned and tightened. DRL's are trying to draw more power than is there...

    and I have DRL lows...

I just wanna know how to disable DRL's without pulling the fuse's please...

Wasn't it the 06+ that had low beam DRL's vs. fogs? I saw something in the past saying some company's HID's wouldn't work for the 06

Hmm. Perhaps get a relay that closes with less power? That way even the lower power DRLs can effectively switch on the relay.

The headlight DRL's on 04+ Grand Prix's are controlled by the BCM. Now, you can turn off the DRL's by turning off the auto headlight feature on the headlight switch on the turn signal stalk. That's what I do. I run a relay harness and if I leave the DRL's on the relay buzzes because it isn't getting the correct amount of voltage to keep the relay coil properly energized.

One way I have mine disabled that if you only have your turn signal lights on (on the headlight switch) that they will shut off after about 5 minutes after your car shuts off so in a way it disables the DRls for your low beams.

i put a piece of cloth over the sensor, and just manually turn the HID's off if i don't want them on...idk if this is the best way, but its how i have it until someone figures out a better method...

^^^eeek I duno about that...we'll I guess i'll just be annoyed by manually turning my healights on ALL the time, even daylight...although during daylight, turning the fogs on, disables DRL but then i'm riding around with fog lamps on :\

where is the sensor BTW? might try it cause at night, it doesn't buzz or blink....I have HID harness's on lows and fogs, didn't do this with lows only. issue started when I did the fog install ( which looks awesome BTW ).

Just turn on your turn signal lights.

I'd just cover the sensor with some electrical tape. Not like it'd be noticeable.
