So last weekend I flushed the cooling system, my temp gauge has always been a little off even through torq app says it stays between 179-185 with a 180* tstat and also verified with a thermometer. I also kept getting a low coolant light even though I had plenty of coolant in there and since I am not very trusting of what the previous owners had done, I had noticed green coolant was used and I know some people are stupid enough to mix dexcool and standard coolant.

Well this week the temp gauge was way off and bouncing all over, torq app was saying -32.8*, and I decided to get a coolant temp sensor. Sensor was replaced easily, I bled the system, the fans come on at 180* but the gauge in the car reads anywhere from roughly 200 to 210, yet torq and thermometer both verify the same temps at 179-185.

I have a three wire temp sensor, and my question now is if there is a possibility that there is fault in the gauge. torq uses obd2 so the pcm is showing the correct temp, but the gauge is off by about 20*

As the gauge gets older it get more out of line with what your app is reading.

Yeah I am trying to see if I can reset the gauge, these are electrical and not old school mechanical, or so I would think.

I should just buy an aeroforce and not rely on the stock gauge anyways...

Hahaha, that's the solution to everything!

Actually I am kicking myself for not buying a the newer gtp, I thought I was getting a steal paying $3900 for a gtp SE with 73k miles on it... Alas this car appears to have been a Pamela Anderson and had more dudes inside it than a pornstar.

Well honestly if you're a fan of these cars, you have to be a little nuts.

The gauge never really reads correctly, just like with the tach.

There is always a bit of cushion.

My 160* read around 180*, and the actual temp was mid 170's.

I don't bother with factory stuff minus the fuel/speedo. It's close enough, it'll work.

    It is the factory gauge.

I know GM gauges are off but this is a good 20*

Today however it was reading correctly.
