    Recently picked up a SC 3800 series 3 from an 06 GP for only 89 bucks. Need to do a compression test on it. What should be the psi rating for each cylinder? So I know if the motor is shot or not

    170 ish would be nice to see.

    if the engine is out of the car pull all of the plugs, then jump the starter with jumper cables to crank the engine over.

    if its still in the car at the yard you can do the same. just need a battery and jumper cables.

    It's in my garage. Sc has no play. Valve cover gaskets for sure need replacing. But is there a range of psi that would be acceptable. Like for example 130-200 or whatever. I'm just throwing out numbers.

    yes, in the 170 range, they all more then likely wont be the same, one may be 165, the next 173 and so on.

    as long as they are all close to the same psi rage its ok.

    if you get one thats like 135 you know theres a issue.

    Or basically are u saying as long as each cylinder reads close to each other then it should be fine

    So basically if every cylinder is like either 10 pounds Higher or lower then 10 I'm alright so like 160-180. Anything else there's problems

    Blocked open TB.. I've almost always seen 180 psi give or take 5%
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Well I need to know gm specific cylinder psi rating. And I know the lowest cylinder has to be like within 10% of the highest cylinder

    You are spending way too much time and effort on this.

    I've never checked an engine before installing. Unless I heard it run in a car. So far.. lucky..only one bad one after 20 miles.

    key thing is that they all test about the same.

    one piston may have more oil in it or something and that will cause higher psi too. say the engine was on its side, those 3 pistons would have been oil soaked some.
