Thread: oil pressure problem?

my oil pressure light will come on sometimes and so will the seat belt light there will be chiming, and sometimes the hvac will come on when the cars off and stay on until i pull the fuse, im completely lost and have no idea what to do

Easiest way to tell if you actually have oil pressure or not...

Is go to your local auto parts store and put a mechanical gauge on there and have someone keep an eye on it.

I'm pretty sure I have oil pressurei drove it home and didn't here metal to metal

I think the pressure switch wemt bad and they didn't have an gauges for mycar

Guy, its a universal Sunpro gauge in the ricer aisle for like 15-20 bucks. It's got a feed line and you just tap it into the oil filter housing after you drain the oil and remove the oil pressure sensor.

alright im pretty sure its the oil pressure sending unit though im gonna try changing that first, on a side note if i pull my HVAC fuse from the glove box the light will go off and stay off

When you go to do the sensor.. channel lock pliers work best.

thanks! i was just think i dont have a wrench that big lol you think a lot of oils gonna come out? i have about 1.5 qts left from my last oil change so i hope thats enough

some oil will spill out when you pull the stock sensor, have a small pail ready. no more than a 1/4 quart or or less will come out.

alright im gonna try that im gonna clean up my chassis grounds as well to try to fix these problems and on an unrelated note im gonna change my brake fluid mines is almost black

yeah..it's not much oil. Enough that you want a small catch thingee under it. I usually sit there with the wheel off, pail between my legs and look like I'm hugging the rotor.

you short armed folks lol i just remove the tire and just reach in, done. no need to put my legs under the car lol but i got a good mental pic of bill description.

i have a friend whos way over weight, (like 400+) he was able to take the alt off his truck but unable to reach the bolt under the alt to finish putting it back on, i called him T rex arms lol as i had both arms all the way down to the bolt lol friggin Toyota's.

on my knees, reach in to it, and work them channel locks like a pro....ive had to deal with mine leaking 3 times, got sick of replacing them and plugged the hole with a brass plug. i think it cost 60 cents.

i need a nice new gauge myself, one of these days, yeah someday lol
