you need a gauge set. It'll include the right vacuum line.

Well i tried vacuuming it and it turns out my grandpa's set of guages is for r-12 but he has the hose to fill r-134a so i hooked up my vacuum and let it run for 10 minutes like recomended. i didn't notice any leaks until i started filling it and it was coming from one of the hoses on the front of the car. my compressor also never kicked in. would this be due to the leak? or would it be something else? I hooked it up to the conector that was back by the firewall and i think it would have to go past the compressor to get there? im not really sure though. i checked the relays and fuses and they were all good but their is a clutch diode i think is what it was called it is the one with the wierd picture in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Any help is appreciated.

Did you put new o rings in when you did the compressor? The compressor won't kick on at all if there is a big leak.

take it off and see if its in right, just the hose that is off the compressor. it needs to sit flat when its bolted down to. make sure no old O rings were left behind as well.

Ugh...my ac compressor is shot as well. It was dripping green dye / oil from the front clutch area. I've replaced it before 7 years ago. I hate anything A/C related. I got 2 used pumps setting in my garage. I don't know if either of them work. I'm half tempted to buy new ones. Let me know if you get it figured out Freddy. I'd like to get a vac pump myself.

well im not sure if that pump worked or not cuz i ended up taking it to the shop cuz i got a little mad and put a hole in the sheetrock in my dads garage with a ratchet so he said if you ever wanna use my garage again you better take it and get it worked on. so i talked to my grandpa cuz he is buddy with one of the best mechanics in town from what i hear from others. I took it in friday my grandpa just told him to put on a new compressor cuz apparently the one i had was leaking. he did that and also replaced the orfice tube and he said he had to take off the brake booster and all that junk in that corner. Now i have no power brakes andhe said he already ordered a new booster and he wants me to take it down after i get off tomorrow. Would a brake booster just go bad overnight or do you guys think he put it on and forgot a vacuum line or something?

they can rust, and maybe taking it off it got pushed through?

there is only one vac line and its a fat hose, the car will barely run with this hose off the brake booster.

a rusted spot maybe, its a long shot in the dark. really makes no sense to all of a sudden not work just because it was removed and put back on.

so you have a rock hard pedal all the time now right?

To replace that orifice tube you need to remove the brake booster. They probably screwed something up while removing it. Or something broke.
