I am not to sure on the chain exactly, i pulled it off the old motor i had bought the car from. i remember seeing that the crank and cam sprockets said "Rollermaster" on it. and its a single roller chain, and it was tight with the new tensioner i put on.

Were there multiple keyways for the crank gear?

IIRC there were 4 grooves like. but it only seem to fit one way. i remember the teeth were more meatier then the stock. but i think there was 1 slot bigger then the other for the keyway on the crankshaft to enter.. because i remember now we thought the sprocket was to small for the crankshaft because we had a hard time getting it to fit. but IIRC there was only 1 way of it really going

lol not hating towards you or anything, because i was making the same mistake, but caught it before i threw together. but im thinking this now.. im in theory thinking that my crankshaft sprocket is on 180* backwards. thus intake is opening on exhaust stroke, and exhaust opening on intake stroke? causing that cough? and of course nothing is broken inside because well, in theory just the valves are opening and closing backwards right? maybee im wrong, im not exactly sure how the engine works, but if that were the case, would i be seeing gas on the plugs?

If it was 180 degrees off, your pistons would have smashed into your valves and bent them. Do a compression test to be sure.

i take the picture because then you know. Looks like you are going back into the timing cover.

A trick you can use is line up the crank with the original gear and then line things up with your new gear and put your old gear on after to see that it's lined up.

There's just so many different ways a guy could install the gear that it makes it confusing. Here is a rollmaster double installed for reference

The dot on the crank sprocket is not on the teeth, at least not on my car. It's at the end of the round portion of the sprocket. There is a picture in my long thread that shows it.

Do it through the passenger wheel well. It will only take a couple hours or so.

if you didn't rtv the crap out of both sides, and it comes off in one piece i don't see why not. if no rtv at all re use it, the car never started and got hot.

You can re use the metal front gasket if there's no RTV on it. Just to let you know though, when you reinstall the front cover, put RTV on the bottom 2 inches of the front cover (both sides of the gasket), as well as on the oil pan gasket. That thing is so hard to get to seal without RTV.

PUll the wheel and splash shield
    DRain coolant
    Pull the balancer
Pull the crank sensor and plastic shield
Pull the 13mm bolts holding the timing cover on. (if you are good, you can sneak past the idler fo the SC)
Pull cam bolt, adjust gears/chain and pray
    Reverse procedure.

what size are the 3 bolts that i need to put inside the harmonic balancer puller? diameter and length? are these bolts something i can buy locally at a autoparts store? or do i have to go to the local hardware store. id rather not have to buy from ZZP because im going to be doing this today..(fixing my timing issue) the bolts i used before to do this were barely enough to work with the engine out of the car. im not sure if i have enough room to get these to fit with the engine still in the car. i wanted exact bolts for an easy removal.
