Buy 3 M6 - 1.00 75mm bolts and some washers to fit those bolts. Then make sure that the puller's main bolt goes all the way inside of the crank and does not hit the threads. Usually the main bolt size for the puller is smaller than the inside dia of the female crank bolt hole.

Some pullers have a cone shaped peice that goes on the end of the main bolt for the pulley. If you can take that off then you could more than likley do it like i stated above. If not you'll have to put a deep socket where the crank bolt goes.

Then all you do is thread those three bolts through the slots in the ballancer. The washers are to prevent the head of the bolt from going through the slots in the puller. Usually the head is about the same size as the slots and when you're trying to pull it they will slip through.

that smashed up part is a key, in the key way, after you get the sprocket off, tap it with a flat head screw driver it should pop off, then replace it with a new key.

I called it. Check the harmonic balancer ad make sure it didn't get damaged as well. You might need to replace the balancer. It will come with a new woodruff key.

i replaced the key and the harmonic balancer looks good to reuse still. it was 180* backwards. i put it all back together and found i had a major coolant leak around the crankshaft sensor..... ugh! now i have to take it all apart again, and figure out what i did wrong

fixed coolant leak. turns out i forgot to put a bolt in. car starts up and runs! best of all there is no knocking noises coming from the engine, sounds mechanically sound. i will post a vid asap of it.. it does need a driver axle seal, coolant temp sensor wiring, and a really good tune up. i have not tried WOT yet, but i did open it up to about 50% and i read 1-9*knock. ive hit that once and been babying it ever sense. dont need to blow another lower end! lol

Sit balancer on crank. Turn and push until key engages.

BTW.. I was doing springs this weekend and wanted to try putting the lock in upside down.. just couldn't actually get myself to do it..

I went to rockauto, choose a GTP and transmission. Then output shaft seal and it's the left side.

thanks bill, turns out they do have the part at the store. when i put the car back together i bought a new cv axle for the left side of the car, and i don't remember there being any retaining clip that came with it. im assuming it is not on there now and is lost. after reading a few how to guides, that is when i noticed there is supposed to be one. could be my problem as for the leak. clip something i can get at the parts store? or is it a GM only part?

This is going to sound a little confusing...so stick with me and ask if it doesn't make sense.

The retaining clip for the driverside is inside the transmission on the output shaft. The output shaft is part of the trans, and is not an axle. I say this because the seal was listed under output shaft and I didn't want to confuse you by calling an axle an output shaft, because...it isn't.

Your clip is in there. No need to worry about if it is or isn't. It's in there

ok that makes more sense now, because i dont remember ever seeing it to begin with taking the old one out. actually when i took the old one out it came off easy, as if there were no clip. thats what lead me to believe. and on rock auto, there is 2 different listings to choose from. there is an actual Axle Seal and Output shaft Seal. i assume they both are the same thing?

I don't see the clip on the output shaft either. Did the axle slip right off, or did you have to use a pry bar to wedge it off.
