you can whack at it all you want to get it to move, but a puller should have done the job.

Did a compression test. Mind you, the motor was cold (obviously):

    Cylinder 1 - 90
    Cylinder 2 - 120
    Cylinder 3 - 80
    Cylinder 4 - 110
    Cylinder 5 - 115
    Cylinder 6 - 120

The puller is failing miserably. Won't even move it.

Everything looks a little low. I'm thinking you didn't block the throttle or something. Not sure if I believe the compression test.

As for the balancer. That's where I'd concentrate now. Something is very wrong if the bolt is out of it and it's not coming off.

Is there anyway I could have overtightened the pulley and messed up the alignment of the crank?

Remember how I said the other night that I get the keyway to engage by pushing and turning until it seats. What I left out is once it seats... I hit the bolt with my airgun. It's a 1/2" Ingersold Rand gun with 500 forward ft lbs of torque. Reverse is 600.

When that bolt stops moving..it's at spec.

Something is preventing it from turning. Something is binding. Could the pulley make tht kind of an issue?

Something is preventing what from turning.?

Concentrate your efforts on getting that Harmonic Balancer off. Something is wrong there and likely that's your no start problem

The motor isn't turning properly. Way too much resistance. I'll work on the balancer.

I'm buying a Snap On puller. I have an idea to try get it off. I'm gonna use some heat from a heat gun (around the pulley), and also put a drilled metal block on the front of the puller. I'll tap the metal block with the same size threads as the puller, so I have more thread engagement, and more torque to pull with. I don't want to strip the tool this time.

You'll need a torch if you're wanting heat. Heat gun won't phase it.

heat the balancer with the torch, not the crank, and when you have tension on the puller like it feels like it wont move, tap the balancer,, work the puller tap the balancer and so on, hopefully that will let it pop forward, little by little.

Heat the front of the pulley? Like around the shaft? Or the side of the pulley (where the belt runs)?

heat the front of the balancer around the crank, but try not to heat the crank, you want the balancer to expand.

Doesn't the harmonigc balancer have a rubber insert in it (for damping purposes)? If so, get ready to replace your balancer it you put a rosebud to it....

Got the Snap On puller. This thing is heavy duty. I work tonight, so I won't be able to get a start on trying to get the thing off until tomorrow morning.

Please do not use a hammer! Your crank thrust bearings will take all the abuse.

The Snap On puller got it off no problem. I'm gonna pull the front cover and check the timing.
