    I just changed my oil in my supercharger and i'm pretty sure it's never been changed and the car has 193,000 on it lol. I brought the old oil in the house to show my wife and all she could say was it stinks get it away. It looked like very thick very dark brown "substance". The sc oil i put in was clear lol.

    btw summit racing rocks. I called the local gm dealership and it was $17 a bottle i got two bottles shipped to my door for $25. I ordered it last night at 8pm and received it today at 6pm that's what i call service lol

    yup its smells.

    not to be completely of topic here, but are you really using a 160 thermostat in your stock gtp??? If so thats not very good for the car at all.

    Yeah i have a 160 thermo that's what came in it. I plan on other upgrades when i get the chance. I don't see as to how it would hurt the motor at all running cooler.

    160* is too cold. Get a Stock replacement or a 180*.

    Why is it to cold? What problems would it cause?

    running the motor colder than it is supposed to be ran accelerates wear on the motor and decreases mileage. there is absolutely no reason for you to run a 160* thermostat, nor a 180* thermostat. go buy a stock 195* thermostat and put that in and be happy.

    running the motor colder is an old school trick that is no longer relevant within the technology we are offered today.

    I'm just assuming it's a 160 because the temp gauge only get to just between the 100 and 210 on the gauge. I don't see how it would cause any excess wear on anything because don't most stuff break because of excess heat? I can understand the mileage decrease but that should be minimal. Right?

    Look again. Its between 160 and 210, not 100 and 210. That means your temps are around normal stock temps, you have a stock tstat.

    I just looked and it's 100 at the bottom. My buddies 99 gt says 160 at the bottom.

    If it going halfway up gauge...it is a normal temp t-stat...no matter what the lowest temp reading says.

    When cruising on the highway it will drop as if it was tuned for it though...I had a 180* before I got a canned tune...

    You must have a 97.. I think the cluster in those was different than 98-02, and 03..
    Regardless, if you are running between the two tickers, you are at normal temps.

    The colder theremostat is definitely a bad thing. The problem is the ECU can never get to normal operating temp and will continue to dump too much fuel. This causes carbon buildups and excess wear.

    Too cold is just as bad as too hot.
