Hey guys I just installed my new supercharger thats suspost to have all new bearings and seals and I'm getting some grinding/slaping noise coming from the case.
I took the belt off and tried the pulley tests. There is no play un and down or in and out. When I turn the pulley the rotors turn and I get that noise. I cleaned the case inside and out before I put it back together. I just took the rotors out of the case. Never touched the snout area with the coupler and all the other parts.

Did you cover the bearings in the case before you cleaned it?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Sounds like it could be your rotors rubbing the case, pull the rotor pack and inspect the edges of the rotors and the inside of the case.

was there a green coupler in there? also make sure the rotor is torqued down in the correct sequence.

If you feel play in the pulley before it "catches" then it's a coupler, but it sounds like the rotors are totally shot, which clatter and ding when the bearings wear out.

If there is binding in the rotor assembly, it could be there is something stuck to the mating surface of either the supercharger or the LIM, and when you torque it down, it puts the case in a bind, and the rotors make contact with the side of the case because it already has close, tight tolerance.

Since you have already ran it...hard to tell if this was the case, cause the damage is now done.

Did you torque all the bolts correctly, and evenly, like followed the torque sequence?

Could also of been the bearings behind the rotor drive gears are shot, and have too much play in them, causing rotor slap. In that case, either take your belt off the supercharger till you can fix it, or remove the rotors and replace with a good set of used ones if you dont want to drop the cash to have them rebuilt. Regardless...try and save the main supercharger housing from any more damage if you can.

Ok thanks for the help guys. I bought the charger from minnichopper and he rebuilt the whole thing and ported it for me. I still have the old charger just incase if I would need to put it back on. I did cover the needle bearings when I cleaned the case. There was nothing in the case or on the rotors when I put it back together. I am a clean freak and cleaned it good. There doesnt seem to be any play from the coupler. I mean when I move the pulley it moves the rotors. So no play there. There is grease on the needle bearings I made sure of that and even checked that they turn ok. we cleaned the top of the manifold as good as we could.
I just dont know what it could be...Its confusing to me cuz no play or anything. Unless like it was said a bad set of rotors???
