well usually i just like to give people the benefit of the doubt. i like to think all the childish asshole comments are better left at cgp.

however after seeing his cardomain page this appears to just be another kid that gives gp (particularly gtp) owners a bad name by just being a complete tool. guess i should have known when the thread went from, "how do i run cooler and increase voltage" to, "im settin the record".

    see

but leave the Thermostat alone unless you are building a dedicated 1/4 mile car (which I doubt). First of all the thermostat's rating is only the temperature that it opens, allowing full flow of coolant. So a 160 degree stat will open sooner, but the fan still won't turn on at that low a temperature; so you might run a little cooler on the highway where you have airflow, but not around town in stop and go driving.

Second; if you modify the fan to get it to turn on sooner, you have now done nothing more than triumphantly thrown out 40 years of automotive technology and engineering advancements, and reverted right back to 1966 when lots of cars ran 160 degree thermostats. A modern car is designed to run normally at 200 - 230 degrees; it's more efficient, better for fuel economy, and will allow the engine to burn off condensation in the oil for longer engine life. The whole engine management system is designed around these operating temperatures; you can't alter one thing without affecting the entire system.

Do yourself a favor and leave the correct thermostat in there and go enjoy your car!

If you decide to do it anyway, take the old thermostat in to a good parts store (not a "McParts" store like Autozone, but rather a real parts store, i.e. NAPA or similar) and a good parts guy (or girl) can look it up by the dimensions even if it's not listed by application yet.

^^Are you kidding me? You can't be serious...serious? You go ahead and keep modding your car with the stock 195* T-Stat and I'll sit here and laugh. Getting a colder temp t-stat, such as a 180* is not going to affect your MPG's hardly at all, it keeps the motor running cooler, lowers KR levels...and yes...you can alter it. It is called TUNING. And you can't compare technology from 1966 to now. So many things are different...back then you had to have a cooler running car...for one thing oil was HORRIBLE and keeping it cool was the next best thing since it had to be changed every 1,000 miles or so.

Also, you can get it to be cool around town AND on the highway. It is called turning the fans on early. I'm not sure who your very good tech is, but he's needing to be slapped.

180 is good but 160 is too cold. You will cause premature bearing failure in your engine.

I am embarrassed to drive a GP knowing that car is out there somewhere... with a driver more blinged out than his car.

PLEASE tell me where you got the Superman belt buckle!?!

Seriously now, order a book, take a class or get a job changin oil and learn something about how your cars engine runs before you think you are going to start workin on that car!! For the cars sake (whats left of the decency of it), please!

If that were so they would have responded to the bashing instead of fleeing in obvious embarrassment.

In the video it looks like he really knows his engine parts.... not!!!! It sounded like he said the tranny was on the passanger side of the car, at least it appeared that way to me. Hell, his car might even be twin charged. That alternator looking thing might actually be the turbo next to the super charger. Whoah!!!!! 9 second car here we come.

On one of his comments to another GP owner on cardomain he says that he's doing Audi and BMW foundation in his car. Anyone want to explain how the hell he did that? I'm a VW owner so i take offense to him trying to mimic German cars. I love GP's, but that's an abomination.

I guess having a car with Lambo doors means it's also based on any other european car.
