im thinking what he has already done with rockers, he could go low 11s on a cam setup.

An NIC isn't a good nitrous cam but better than the stock one that's for sure. The xp however is a great candidate which is the reason i'm running one this season. With the same amount of spray on the xp i should be able to pick up about 4-6mph and .5 but i'll be spraying whatever it takes to run 10.99 this season. It'll probably be a 175-200 shot but my car will see 10's on stock heads. Then after that... i'll probably have to replace the trans.... again.

And yea, the 11.84 was on the stock cam. If only it had more exhaust duration...

yea im thinking of going with the xp cam instead of xpz... mainly cuz its a little less harsh on the parts and what not, and if i feel like running N2O its a great cam...

i was talking to tweaky, he said there is only one other cam better for nitrous than the XP but i forget which one it was... I thought it was the NIC for some reason

is your trans built or are you one of the guys that breaks a trans and throws a new stock one in there?

What do you think an I/C GenV setup w/meth, xp cam, running on e85 can do? thats what im in the process of building... and i'm thinking of putting like a 100-150 shot on it... but thats down the road, i want to start small with a 50 shot, as ive never used N2O before

the XPZ isnt exactly a "big" cam...it is actually pretty small..

honestly if i were to choose a vendor cam i would go with one of the intense cams. an s1x is a great choice for a cam on stock heads. has a way better powerband than an xp. mid range is what makes the car feel fast.

yea i havent looked too much into the s1x or any of the intense cams for that matter... would that make a good N2O cam though? What's its exhaust duration compared to the xp?

i wouldnt get the xpz anyways... they are too secretive about it and i want more information on it

exhaust duration = good nitrous cam. that is about it.

    XP: .520/.536

    S1X: .514/.526

id say both are equally good to run with nitrous, but the S1X is going to have a powerband that is lower than the XP. the bigger the cam, the higher in the RPM range the powerband will be.

s1x and xp are great cams IMO for nitrous. If you plan to inter-cool one day i would get the s1x if you plan to not inter-cool and just spray get the xp. Or you can have PRJ grind you a cam specifically for your needs. He's one of the best in the 3800 world hands down. Besides one other person his advice is the only advice i'll follow. I HATE following everyone else's setups, i am not a follower nor will i ever be.

haha, tweaky is a cool guy. He's helped me a lot. He was the first one giving me information on the N2O style cams that would work for my car.

Yes I plan to be I/Ced. Can you please explain why, because of the I/C, it would be better to run the s1x as opposed to the xp, and why the xp is better if I don't plan to run I/C?

    Thanks

the s1x from what ive seen has a powrband that is lower than the xp, so you dont need to rev it has high to get the power out of it. i think it would be a better DD cam.

i would like a nice sounding cam along with the setup though... the s1x seems to be very mild

the XP has some nice umphh to it.... at least from the youtube videos I've heard.

Some of the videos the XP makes the car sound like its busting out a V10 and its super loud... and other videos it seems like its quite a mild cam...

XP has too much overlap to be a good i/c'd cam but it's not a bad cam. Plenty of people have run the xp with an i/c very successfully but IMO the s1x is much better suited for one. The s1x has a little less overlap and lift on the exhaust side so you don't loose nearly as much boost. You don't want to spin the blower any faster than you have to. You always want to run the biggest pulley you possibly can while perfectly balancing that with hp. The smaller the pulley the more hp it robs.

Another really big thing that ticks me off with this community is a very large amount of people really have no idea how a cam works, what overlap is, lift on stock heads, ect. They just want a cam that sounds mean. Mean doesn't make the car fast, hence why there's handfuls of cammed gtp's running slower than my car when it was on rockers. This is why i suggest having PRJ spec you out a cam, he'll design it to work perfectly with your mods, or he already has a cam available for them. IIRC his cams make more power than anyone else's too.

the XP is a little baby cam. you can make good power on stock heads with it, but is it still not a big cam. it doesnt sound that mean unless you drop the idle or run a fairly straight exhaust. a stock cam sounds mean with a straight exhaust.

i am one of those guys who is going to be running a cam because it sounds mean. i have a TEP with more intake lift (.574/.566) that i am going to be running later on. it will sound badass, but probably never get the power out of it like most guys that do cam setups. i also am in the boat of non-intercooled with high boost. i am unique in the way i think about my car. id rather run about 18* of timing at most and then crank up the boost as much as i can on that level. i like my blower to whine like crazy.

if i really wanted to make power i would call PRJ, but i am not in the game to be the fastest guy or the guy with the most power. i want a mean car that is entertaining for me to drive.

Jesus... I should just scrap the GP project and put the money into camming the C5.....

BTW, where can I contact PRJ? What do their custom cams generally run for?

I believe it's 300-350 for a custom cam unless he suggests ones he's already got which i don't know the price of. His website is Welcome to PRJ.Performance, there he should have his email/phone listed.
