I replaced the timing chain cover gasket and when I got it all put together I have literally zero oil pressure, I tore it back apart to see if maybe some silicone got somewhere it shouldn't then I put it back together and it's the same thing. It has a 3.8 liter v6 non supercharged engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you remove the oil filter housing? if you did did the spring and cap go back in?

fill the oil filter with oil and put it on, take the spark plugs out and crank it for 15 to 20 seconds at a time for 5 to 8 times.

if you can get a mechanical gauge to put in the op housing, where the low oil sensors is you'll see oil pressure when its cranked. if its getting it.

why did you change the cover?

so you didnt take the oil pump or anything apart then. just took it off and put it back on.

i think it just needs to be cranked more till it builds o/p. dry filter is a no no in my book. always fill them if you can. i know some cars have em sideways. ours we can fill it up.

I always install the filters dry, it makes no difference. There is plenty of oil on the bearings for a few seconds it's pumping up.

Only needed or wanted on diesel trucks, they can blow the filters straight off if no oil is in them.

His problem seems oil pump related or it's bleeding off straight back into the pan.

I would say check the oil pump first, easiest to get to.

When I had it apart the second time I checked to see if it was turning smooth but I didn't open it up. I don't understand why it would fail all the sudden like this.

The oil pump gear might be grooved.

have you pulled the oil pressure sensor to see if oil comes out of it? bout a 1/4 qt should leak out if its got oil in it.
