Hey guys. So I was driving a hour away to visit my girlfriend at college and boom. At first it was a tiny little stutter that I barely noticed. Then it felt like a explosion. I slowly started loosing power. Not rpms. With smoke everywhere. I lost reverse and it will go forward a little if I give it a lot more gas than normal. There is a huge leak from the side cover I believe.

I will be ripping into it to see the damage when I find a ride home in the next couple days. Just looking for any ideas on what it could be. Thanks

sounds like you lost fluid. maybe the trans is ok.

look over the trans lines as they like to rust.

Maybe the chain snapped or the gear drive went boom, honestly I have no idea.

    Sounds toast though.

I wish it was a trans line. There like no rust on my car. It's from Texas. I'll let you know when I get to look at it.

Ive gone through hell with transmissions. I got one from the junkyard. Blew it up. Got one from a guy with like 75000 on it. Same thing. Then I fixed that one myself about a year ago. I replaced some gaskets, rings, frictions, steels, 4th hub. The basics.

I went through a bunch of transmissions and found the problem, maybe it's the same problem you have too.

The driver Seriously .. it was my fault.

Which end is the leak? without fluid it's not going to work, but if the problem happened at the diff end.. replace and you should be good with a filter and fresh fluid. If it's at the chain end.. you have much bigger issues.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

The first couple transmissions were my fault 100 percent. I was drifting on dry pavement. I shredded my differential.
This last trans Ive been babying cause I don't want to rebuild it again. I was at a steady 70mph the whole 45 minute drive. I haven't gotten to look at it more than on the side of the highway. But the leak is from the drivers side. I think it's leaking from the side cover... Chain end. I think it might be time for a jy trans?

So I finally got my car in my garage by pushing it with another car. I got under it and it's leaking from the hole around the drivers side axle on the side cover. Any ideas why is would leak from there?

That sounds like either the axle seal or the side cover to channel plate seal. You know the big rubber squared o-ring one.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah. It was the round ring that's between the channel plate and side cover. How would that o-ring get chewed up.
