hey everyone, I just purchased a 04 gtp about a month ago and after a few weeks of me driving it there is no surprise that im running into a issue. the transmission seems to be slipping...all gears above 4k rpm start to jerk then eventually shift. I did put a jug of lucas transmission fix in her but the problem is still there.. so im guessing in the near future im going to need a transmission... ultimately my main question is... I have a spare transmission from a 98gtp.. can I use that? also could it be that the transmission is not slipping and its a common error to jerk and whatnot... let me know asap please. thanks guys

I also do have a slight exhaust leak at the cat and the check engine light is on for the cat I have been doing a little research online and found out that it can cause a person to believe the transmission is slipping? anyone have any related issues? could this really be as easy as a cat issue? the trans does shift up and down fine and feels ok how ever when I am wot it jerks kinda... let me know what you guys think

Exhaust leak and check engine light for the cat has nothing to do with it.
The spare trans from your 98 gtp won't work in the comp g without modification.
Sounds to me like your TCC solenoid in trans is not locking up(shuddering)

I looked on youtube and found a few videos for a bad tcc.. the jumping and jerking on those videos is 1000xs worse than what im dealing with I would say mine is just more that slightly noticeable

If you symptoms are above 4000 rpm TCC does not come into play.

98' trans will not work with you CompG trans either.

Did the bottle of Lucas have any effect on the transmission? Have you done a pan drop and filter change?

Doesn't look like a trans issue. MAF, TPS, Plugs, Wires, Coils, ICM....acts like the engine is breaking up in the higher rpm.

You never answered....Did the bottle of Lucas have any effect on the transmission? Have you done a pan drop and filter change?

no affect on the trans at all.. i didnt do a pan drop yet only because most of the people believe its a ignition issue.. and because the previous owner said the pan drop was done recently (and the fluid looks great)

I agree that it's not the trans. It's most likely a bad ignition wire, or a rusty terminal on a coil pack. Those have usually been the cause of my misfires. It's possible you have a code for the misfire as well. Run to auto zone and have them scan it for free.
