So a few months ago I bought my wife a 02 grand prix gt. We immediately had hard shifts after the car warmed up. So I did some research and came to the conclusion the Pressure Control Solenoid was bad. So I replaced it with an AC Delco pcs along with a new filter and fluid. Car had no problems for about a month ~1000 miles but now when the car warms up it shifts hard again and sometimes while at low speeds it jumps and bucks. So i checked the trans fluid it was low I added a quart and brought it back to proper levels I have not had the chance to test drive it but I am assuming it will still be having issues. I also have a CEL P0141 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 2. Not sure if that is related but any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.

Can your scanner read trans code though?

You may have a P1811 or P0730 or P0742 present.

also, keep in mind, some trans codes wont stay in the computer after a key cycle. needs to be scanned before the key is turned off after the condition occurs.

most scanners will show tranny codes, all P codes show up, tranny codes are P codes.

Kinda off topic, but I've been wondering... Will the torque app / ELM237 read trans codes?

it also reads all p codes as far as i can tell. it also clears codes, but is super slow to deal with for code reading.

ELM327 has the ability, its the software behind the scanner. The communication protocol is J1850 VPW. Its a standard, what matters is the software behind the hardware. Torque may do it, though idk, easiest way is to try or drive to an autoparts store (Autozone, O'rilies) walk in and say can I scan my car. They will hand you a scanner and say go have fun.

If it was low on trans fluid could that possibly cause a long shift and trigger that code making it shift hard or is that not likely?

Your best bet is to put transgo shift kit into it. that'll make it shift faster and it won't see the long shift times. A couple of very respected trans builders aka Tripleedge have mentioned that if you follow GM's standard clutch setup you could have so much slop as to cause the issue. Drop in a shift kit and poof..it'll take care of the issue for $45 plus fluid.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah I have heard good things about the transgo kits. That might be the path I take because replacing that pcs was kind of a pain and that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Likely it's the amount of slop in the clutch packs.. which I was eluding to in my earlier post.

Since you aren't going to rebuild and could essentially fix it for small dollars...it's the best thing.

I see what kind of life should I expect out of it after I install a shift kit before it completely craps out on me.

I installed my TransGo kit almost 5 years ago (100,000 KM). Still going strong, for a sloppy a$$ hi-mileage tranny. LOL

You could last just as long, or longer, or less. It is a crap-shoot depending on what really is wrong inside the tranny.

If you tell us rpm, torque, thoughts of the person driving, temperature inside the trans and exterior for every mile driven.. we might be able to get some kind of formula that estimates how much longer it'll live.

The kit will stop the bang shifts and code, after that.. you are unfortunately at the mercy of the transmission gods.
