It can be done either into 30 or 87 as long as it heads out of the other. Doesn't actually make a difference. However if you found something with instructions..it'll tell you to put the supply to 30 and the output to 87. See that little straight piece off 30 that would hit 87 if it pivoted? That's the part of the relay that makes connection when the relay is actuated via power and ground (one to 85 and the other to 86)
Ok.. so if that stuff is right and you are still blowing the fuse. Let's look at the rest. Your supply is hooked to the top of the relay center?
What size is the fuse in your holder in that supply wire?
And..you are positive you hooked the output from the relay to the positive input of the ballast? Because once in a while you have to flip the wires to make the ballasts work properly. (Imagine you didn't pay much and they are from a different country)
