As the title says, alot of people are going crazy over the GPOs and while they look nice and all, I got to thinking of an idea that would be cheaper and my own.

Something along the lines of this... It's been done but not by many, so thoughts, critique it please.

I was thinking, remove the bottom tabs, sand smooth, and get the ducting from the 00-03 models
(my 99 lacks them and it looks funny without the ducts).

My thoughts are that should it not work, I can always get GPOs or the different mesh styles to fit in place. But do you guys think it would look cool?

Open to ideas, blacked out like this guy did, paint further back and then black out so it looks like it goes further, or just body match the whole insides to the radiator... again. Ideas???

PS: No stripes, so don't de-rail over how crappy/ricer'ish it is.

BTW Ducting is # 7 in the illustration, mounts between the bumper and the condensor.

I was thinking about the Street Scenes type, but I'm not a fan of the look on silver cars. Too much silver, IMO

But black would look just like stock, or like nothing was there anyways.

This is why I can't make up my mind and how I came across the idea for smooth nothingness lol

    The ducts or grills???

Whole car is silver, wheels are silver, black tint, red calipers and those are the only thing that will be red.

    That looks great.

I would've done it if I had a spare bumper laying around.

Ive been dabating on doing this for a while now, I think I might after I go intercooled and try to vent the ducting to the fmhe. I say go for it I like the look of if. Just dont know if I want to cut the tabs off if I ever wanna sell the car or put the grills back on. Ive seen it done so the bumper was painted to look like gpo's

Nothing to do with being cheap. I can afford the GPOs and I can order the Street Scenes, but I don't want to pay for black mesh grills that will look alot like stock, and I hate the silver ones on Silver cars, and GPOs are getting played out by alot of people. So I'm looking for something different.

I will probably have to spend at least $50 for both ducts unless I find a cheap set at a J.Y., which is unlikely given the local yards. And then modify them accordingly, so it won't be cheap by any means, but custom and my own and different yes.

Yup, seen it done multiple times, was looking for something different but still cool. If everyone followed the original trends there would be nothing new happening.

Nothing wrong with the look, both work together well, but I wanted something different for my Silvermist GTP lol. There are probably a dozen people on the forums with silver cars that all look about the same lol.

I was thinking of it just going straight thru to the radiator, but having a cutout just before to allow leaves and bugs and junk to be washed down and out so it doesn't build up.

Just curious on other peoples views of whether or not it would be cool.

Run it without grilles for a little bit. Just don't cut the tabs so you choose to back to the stock grilles. I went back to stock grilles that I painted gloss black.

i say go with polished black 4-piece street scenes or some from PFYC since you say you can afford it. will it look stock? kinda but better, they will be shinier and will be a great subtle look. not many people have a 4-piece black grilles, we all typically go with the chrome.

Oh wait, now I see what you did. Now that I see that you left the tabs in it does look cheap. At first I though you shaved those off, that would be fine.
