I like to heat the motor up so that it helps loosen up any grim. Spray down with a good degreaser, let that sit for a few minutes to work. I have a hose nozzle that has a shower setting on it, that's what I like to use so I don't have a full force stream of water. After you get it all rinsed off good, I allow mine to dry for a while and then start the engine to finish drying anything that may still be wet. I do this because I usually go in right after that and hit all my platics and hoses with so spray shine to keep it having that showroom look.

You shouldn't because with the shower setting, it's pretty much like driving in the rain and the water from the road getting up in the engine bay. I mean don't sit in one spot and soak the area down. If you do kinda quick sweeps back and forth you'll be alright. Check your plug wires on your coil packs and make sure they fit tight. If not, cover with a plastic bag. I had a set one time that didn't fit tight and had to do that. That's why I let it sit for a little while and dry, but all the plugs a suppose to be weather tight. I just let it sit to be on the safe side.

yea i plan on it i just washed it today and then some smart *** bird decided that he wanted to take a crap right on the hood so i will probably just do the whole 9 yards tom. rewash, clean up the rims, interior, engine bay, and maybe even the underbody if i could just think of a way to inject the degreaser into the sprinkler so it would be more then just a water down

Get you one of those mericle grow spayers that hooks to you hose and fill the canister with the degreaser and spray away. Same as the motor, let it sit for a few to work in and then rinse good.

That'll work to. If you use it under the hood, just stand back to where more of the power mist hits it instead of the full blast. I used to do mine at the car wash that way. Now I have a steam cleaner at work that get's up to 300 degrees. That thing is awsome.

I never degrease my engine anymore... on my old 92 camaro when I had it I tried to degrease and spray down the engine and it didn't start for like 4 hours... freaked me out, and since then it had problems in the rain with stalling out. You should be fine though, because that car was old, and I also know people who do it all the time and it works good. As far as spraying it n a warm engine i dont know because degreaser is very flammable.

"Simple Green" and "Gunk Engine Cleaner" has worked for me.

Apply to a cool engine and rinse off lightly.

Some people use tire foam to make it look shiny, I use Armour All.

Pressure washers can be harmful in the wrong hands..... The high pressure water can penetrate the "weather resistant" connections, if that happens you've got water in an area that it won't evaporate from causing corrosion. If you trust yourself with a pressure washer have at it... Otherwise, you might want to stick with the hose. I haven't used a pressure washer on my cars for years.... I really don't think it's necessary.

PS. If you have a heavy build up of "Gunk" on your motor, you may need to apply cleaner more than 1 time to get rid of it all while using a hose.

i got the engine all cleaning up i used "Simple Green " mixed with water, just used the regular hose instead of the power washer i don't really think it needs all the pressure, and thanks "crimpton" about the tip with the tire foam i'll have to give that a try, and i am going to put some pictures up as soon as i finish doing a little touch up painting
