    As my experience with any after market headlight I have ever come across. The reflector in the housing is never as good as the OEM one.

    Pure suggestion to the OP, open both sets of headlights and swap the reflectors, its not hard to do.

    And the black housing does not "eat up the light"...whatever that means

    Wrong. Black absorbs light, meaning it does not reflect light. You have to know this is fact. Sorry you didn't understand my terminology.
