I'm just saying stock for stock you wouldn't expect to class a FWD family sedan with a RWD, V8 powered, pony car...would you?
Reason I say "turd" is because you should be buying a FAST car...or faster than most when you buy a GT...maybe I'm just not as impressed as I should be?
haha...
the 4.6's are low compression and LOVE boost. with out boost tho there not doing much. ive seen plenty of people dump loads of money into the 4.6 na and hardly get any power. but on the other hand boost it like a termi and batta bing batta boom. and 2v's can make comparable power to a 4v when boosted.
but stock, yes the 4.6's are turds. the best thing about it is these kids that have them dont know that and i end up showing them tail lights alot![]()
mods?
LS1 kicks ass, no replacement for displacement, ect
sorry just had to say it =)
5.7L > 4.6L
I agree with this statement. I have 2001 Crown Vic Police Interceptor with v8 240 hp, 276 tq. Throw 6 psi and make over 315+ Whp. I agree N/A stock 4.6L's are a joke. But once you modify or boost it's a whole different story. I'm pretty sure my Pretty much stock CV would Eat my pretty much stock Regal Gs on top end. But down low there is no comparison Gs would run away.
My old 88 T-bird sounded like an 8 w/ Flowmasters. The mustang 6s didn't sound as good with the same set up.
ive seen on a 2v gt and a 4v mach 1 that all the boltons in the world dont get you that much power N/A.
full bolt on mach 1 with a higher compression block N/A. 310hp 340tq. he romped on it next to me on the highway one night and well i was not all that impressed for pretty much being a built N/A motor.
the 2v gt has, TB, plenium, intake, exhaust, underdrive pullies, DART block with higher compression, 4.10's. made 270hp and 320tq untuned and ran 13.5 at 105 on a hot day. thats pretty much a full bolt on set up.
N/A even if modified, there not making crazy power. but add boost to it, and they come alive.
I agree, for the money spent it's not that impressive especially since going boosted is about the same price of all bolt ons. 310whp and 340rwtq is not bad, but you could make that at low boost and probably hit close to 500whp with about 10-12 boost. I like n/a but boost is the way to go in hp race, unless you are running a big block![]()
Some were capped at 120 for the same reason
500RWHP is a far cry. As I stated in my previous post about my 04 Roush. Full bolt ons, 2v, fuel mods, and a 12lb intercooled vortech. 396.5RWHP@5420rpm(rev limited) 395.5RWTQ@3980rpm TUNED on the dyno. Thats about as far as you want to push a 2v 4.6 without headwork and bottom end work. 500RWHP won't work with a stock 4.6. Heads won't flow enough and you will probably lose a rod or piston trying to reach that goal. But, still, 400RWHP was crazy fast. Too bad the car never made it home from the shop though.RIP
