SO, does this mean that some 1.9 rockers may be up for sale and within driving distance soon?
Haha they could possibly be ;-) not sure when as I have to get another can first then put it in... prob won't happen until Christmas break from school and ****
Christmas is good for me. Wallet just got cleaned out with fraternity dues.
I'm not understanding why mods seem to not care about misleading information in for sale section. I mean in my opinion the guy should be banned automatically regardless of the section it got posted in. Sorry you got screwed but lesson learned the hard way. It happened to me with djnight2k selling me a a defunct Gxp caliper setup back in the day.
We've dealt with enough of these to know not to rush to banishment when there are open disputes. The seller will be given a chance to clear things up or he will be dealt with. Typically when someone posts a thread like this without contacting the seller first, it ends in a paypal dispute which could take weeks and the item is "destroyed" versus the seller acknowledging the problem and refunding the money right away or arranging the item to be shipped back.
When we police the for sale section too much, we get *****ed at anyway. We cannot hold everyone's hand.
The better approach would have been to report the sellers post so all the moderators see this and then we would have locked the sellers open for sale threads. Then attempt contacting the seller if you haven't already. If you were not able to reach the seller in a reasonable amount of time, open up a paypal dispute (you have 45 days). The reason you do not want to open a dispute right away is that typically you are at the mercy of paypal rather than the seller possibly refunding you the money right away. On top of that, paypal may eventually rule in the buyers favor, refund the money and ask for proof that the item has been destroyed.

You right 91parkave he should be banned especially after those other posts from April claiming it was not an XP.. I shouldn't have to research a guy before I buy something from here.. I have bought and sold a lot of things on here and hundreds of things off eBay before I have never had a problem with people deliberately misleading me.. like you said I guess lesson learned lol ... also I don't know how this is in the wrong section? Is this not a rant?
Right those are definitely the steps that are going to happen.. but the fact remains that he deliberately mislead someone into buying falsified goods... and in order for me to be "slandering" him the said slander would have to be false which it is not BC of the already posted threads where he knew it was not what he claimed it to be.
Also I guess the term would be more along the lines of Libel more then slander because it is a written statement not verbal.. but who's counting lol

I agree with both sides (ban & buyer beware).
There's an old sayings - that a fool and his money are soon parted... If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is... Never give a sucker an even break... It's brand new, hardly used... Trust me... Won't hurt much... Never done this before. Lol
IMO, if you buy something used, there is a 50/50 chance when you open the box, it's not going to be what you expected. You can increase your odd's though by doing what has been suggested, a little research, making sure there's papers or pictures to substantiate claims or just flat out ask people here if they vouch for a seller. Good thing it was through PayPal, if private transaction you would just have to enjoy the donation and experience ; ) no matter how bad it tastes!
Good luck!
I agree ^^ , I just got my money refunded from another seller here through paypal due to the fact that some members here want to sell their stuff ASAP and get paid ASAP but for some reason they forget to ship the parts.
To the buyer of the cam why not keep the cam since its very similar and try make a deal with the seller by getting some of your money back ?
97gtpjoe i actually contemplated that today...after i cooled down from yesterday lol.... if he were to give me some back then i might be able to justify keeping it...maybe lol
Ya i didnt see those threads till after the fact lol
Guys, the world is a buyer beware place. It's not the lynch mob mentallity that the current government/children of entitlement likes to think. The universe is basically out to screw you and you have to ensure they don't, once you get screwed... the rest of the world isn't going to kill the person because they are an ahole.
Mods do a ton of work around here that goes largely unappreciated. Monitoring, policing and everything else in the for sale threads to everyones desires may not occur. PS.. if you don't like something in the for sale threads...please spam Mad Monkey's pm box. Thank you
Soooo you wanna sell your "bad" cam super cheap?
So every time something like this happens we need to ban immediately? All that does is tell the seller to keep the money and create a new profile if they want to sell again. It cuts off communication and pretty much lets the seller know that they are off the hook unless they don't want to close the paypal/bank account. It is in the buyers best interest right now to get in touch with the seller to try and resolve this before going through the paypal process. It is in the sellers best interest to get this resolved quickly if they want to sell again or keep their account. Apparently it is in everyone elses interest to railroad the **** out of the process so that one profile is blocked from coming here again.
Good cam, just run it....
You can't IP ban anymore. If one person ever logged on from a phone, and that IP was banned along with a long list of others, it would create blackouts for other users.
So banning his account does nothing more than disables it.
Like the mods are saying, the seller could just make a new profile and do it all over again.
