thats why you should have to have your bank account monitored, drug tested and they should be giving gift cards to food stores instead of a stupid check that these assholes can go out and spend our hard earned money. better yet get rid of welfare all together and make them get a damn job... you can be a complete moron and still work at Mcdonalds. GET A JOB AND STOP MOOCHING

I know people that would be happy to take a drug test, or have more strict rules/regulations to get the help they NEED. On the contrary there are thousands of people that take advantage of and exploit it.

I've seen both sides of the coin personally, and it absolutely sickens me.

The costs of those tests. Do you want to pay for them too?

    Interesting counter-argument isn't it?

The issue I have with the American perspective is you claim at one point, you want to take care of your own.

Then later you'll change your minds and say, hey, it's every man for themselves.

    Makeup your minds.

I would rather pay more for the test knowing that the people getting some of my hard earned money are actually going to use it right... which i why i think instead of getting a EBT card... you get a grocery store gift card... that way my money doesnt go to strippers. well my money does go to strippers but at least im the one getting the lapdance

They would just sell the gift card and grab themselves a lapdance. Scammers gonna scam.

U.S. Park Service bans feeding animals because they "will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

its the same thing with humans, if they can not work then its a different story but, i would agree with the few people on here that think the number of lazy people vs people that truly need it is becoming out of hand, I think we do take care of our own at least the ones who need the help the rest of them maybe even most of them dont need it and they for all i care can fend for themselves, it was never meant for half the country to be feeding the other half and quite frankly im tired of it, maybe in Canada out issue doesn't exist but its out of hand down here

and the tests you speak of, they would pay for themselves in a short amount of time

The issue I have with your Canadian perspective is your on the outside looking in, you dont have to pay for your neighbors BBQ because they feel lazy and know they can get all these hand outs, maybe one day you'll understand

This is what I can't stand. If you don't make enough to feed your damn family you shouldn't be able to have all those fancy electronics that you dont need. Pretty sure welfare was designed so that people who cant afford the cost of living don't have to rot in the streets, not so they can watch the voice in 1080p HD while playing angry birds.

I really agree the rules should be stricter on who does and does not get those benefits. Its all messed up. And 75% of the time their just to lazy to get a decent job. And yes I know there's cases where they physically can't work and that's understandable. But just cause ur lazy, or have several kids with different fathers...that shouldn't be an excuse

I see this EVERY DAY. I live in welfare county Pennsylvania. I was at the store one day and had in my buggy: a steak, noodles, and gravy, and nothing else because it was all I could afford.

I see this b!tch in front of me with 2 buggies FULL of groceries. She whips out her EBT card to buy chips, cookies, pop, steaks (plural), candy, etc, etc, etc.

When her stuff got bagged up she went out to her BRAND NEW CAR!!!!!!!!!

At the time I was driving my Stealth which had been giving me issues, and was barely able to pay my bills and eat and this b!tch eats better than I do and has a new car? I work 40+ hours a week and struggle and these people have sh!t HANDED to them. Its ridiculous.

Now, I have no problem with assistance programs to those who need it and use it right. First thing they need to do is MANDATORY drug testing. I had to take a drug test to work and earn a check, they should have to take a drug test to sit on their ass and be given a check.

Second, there needs to be limitations on what welfare recipients can buy with their EBT card. No pop, no chips, no junk food, etc. Only things like meat, cheese, milk, juice, etc. I've had some people argue with me about this, saying that that would be depriving them. Well, F*CK THAT. When I was a kid and we didn't have the extra money for goodies, MY PARENTS DIDN'T BUY THEM!!!!!!!!!

Third, would be you can only receive welfare benefits for x amount of time and then you are out of the program. After that you are required to find yourself a job to support yourself or find alternative assistance.

My brother used to have a Jeep Cherokee and he put a sticker on the back window. It read "Work Harder. Millions on Welfare Depend on You."

I have an ex girlfriend whose daughter (not my kid lol) has Pulmonary Hypertension from what I understand this is a serious illness (or so she tells me) and she is on disability and drawing social security and welfare she will never work a day in her life because the stress of commuting in crowds would be too much for her, and she never knows when something may be too much strain. However she got all kinds of grants and student loans to go to college and has a degree in film making (or something in that field) why did they give her grants when they know she will never work when others are denied grants? But the real topper is that she can't take long commutes or crowds yet she goes on vacations 6 or 7 times a year Disney world, Vegas, Mardi Grais those are pretty long commutes and pretty crowded places. Shopping constantly 3 or 4 times a week malls are crowded, she even ran two marathons posts it on Facebook too. She is always worried about her health yet she managed to develop a drug habit, (she did quit after 2 years) Now before everyone jumps on me I know the illness is serious but why cant she get a job she was offered a few by Fox news and Martin Scorsace himself

There are soo very many examples I could give. I will just say that my wifes ENTIRE family makes welfare their carer. I have honestly heard both her mom and sister (at different times) say "why would I get a job? If I worked they would just take away from my welfare"... It is soo messed up. They get $800 a month for food. PLUS they get cash assistance. It pisses me off that I go to work every freaking day and they sit on their ass and draw a check. Plus (since it is getting to be tax time) last year they made a household income of like 9k (he worked doing odd jobs from time to time for some guy) they filed their taxes and got 8k back..... EIGHT ****ING THOUSAND DOLLARS... Almost doubled their household income. How does that work??? And we wonder why the government is broke.
