We've become a country of entitlement...everyone feels they are entitled to a nice house, 3 nice cars, and a 65" ultra HD in the living room. You're not entitled to anything...you have to work for it...the constitution guarantees the right to life, liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness...it does not guarantee happiness...
"Bright before me, the signs implore me, help the needy and show them the way, human kindness is overflowing and I think its going to rain today.". . . Randy Newman
What proof do you have?
The costs of those tests. Do you want to pay for them too?
Interesting counter-argument isn't it?
The issue I have with the American perspective is you claim at one point, you want to take care of your own.
Then later you'll change your minds and say, hey, it's every man for themselves.
Makeup your minds.
To bad they don't have a parts store to use a EBT card at, cause the GP would have all sorts of new sh!t.![]()
I would rather pay more for the test knowing that the people getting some of my hard earned money are actually going to use it right... which i why i think instead of getting a EBT card... you get a grocery store gift card... that way my money doesnt go to strippers. well my money does go to strippers but at least im the one getting the lapdance
There will be more money saved by kicking all the drug addicts off welfare than money spent on drug tests. And really, drug tests aren't that expensive.
U.S. Park Service bans feeding animals because they "will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."
its the same thing with humans, if they can not work then its a different story but, i would agree with the few people on here that think the number of lazy people vs people that truly need it is becoming out of hand, I think we do take care of our own at least the ones who need the help the rest of them maybe even most of them dont need it and they for all i care can fend for themselves, it was never meant for half the country to be feeding the other half and quite frankly im tired of it, maybe in Canada out issue doesn't exist but its out of hand down here
and the tests you speak of, they would pay for themselves in a short amount of time
The issue I have with your Canadian perspective is your on the outside looking in, you dont have to pay for your neighbors BBQ because they feel lazy and know they can get all these hand outs, maybe one day you'll understand
Basically people just want something for nothing, I live in Tennessee where there a lot of musicians I am a musician, most musicians are bouncing from job to job I have a big house and 4.5 acres of land I hate to see anyone sleeping in there car or hungry, so I opened up my home to folks, stay here until you get on your feet and here is a free meal, well all they wanted to do was go hang with friends never look for a job, watch TV throw parties and eat free so I started a new policy you can stay here and get a free meal and I only have three rules;
1.) No drugs and you can have a drink but not get drunk
2.) Every one must pull their own weight, cut grass, wash the car, help me when I am remodeling certain rooms (at most it would be 5 hours work again)
3.) You must be involved in something, ex: learning computer, working in my sound studio, exercise. martial arts, something that will help you out in bettering yourself
Well, it's funny but suddenly nobody comes here any more not even to wish me a Merry Christmas for the last 4 years . . .Screw 'em
PS I should add it does not bother me that they don't come around, it bothers me that they tell people that I want something for nothing, LOL You got a free place to live and free food some of you lived her a year or more without contributing anything or even putting dishes in the dishwasher before I made up those three rules but hey sleep in your car I'm inside where its warm lol
Need to just open up "EBT" stores that sell ONLY necessities and whatnot that those people should be spending my tax dollars on (whole separate rant). Or at LEAST when they select to pay with their ebt card, the cpu checks what was scanned, and wont sell certain items to them. *grumble*
I'm a bit against the local bum. This guy gets a card for food etc, he also has a free cell phone. He bought $120 of lobster one day, and he doesn't like lobster.
He's never going to look for a job. He is happy wandering aimlessly day after day. Cool if that's the life you choose, I'd like to stop paying for the food and phone though.
