I see the results of NOT slowing down in the snow and ice every winter... and it's not pretty.

The interstate speed limit here is 65, if there's more than half an inch on the ground, Im not going above 55 or 60.. if there's more snow I'll take it down accordingly.

At 65+ mph, all it takes is one badly placed deeper patch of snow, or a thick line of snow or rut leftover from a plow to make your car lose traction completely, and I dont know about you but most 16 year olds would slam on the brakes the second they feel the car start to go wobbley. Which is why we have dead kids here every year.

Also, good luck avoiding sudden obstacles in the road, or other drivers being dicks and going normal speed in the snow.

Is the mph you're complaining about really worth hitting that random patch of snow that's gunna send you into the guard rail, or worse another driver? On a regular distance drive (10-30mins?) Is only saving you a few minutes at the end.

I think this thread is the pinnacle of having your head up your own ass. "LERN 2 DRYVE IN THE SNOW DUDE, DONT SLOW DOWN, BRO!"

Thank you, that hits the nail right on the head.

Hey think of it this way, they are going 30mph; they just saved your life because you could have been going 50mph, lost control of your car, ended up in a ditch which could have ended with you being severely hurt. Slow the flow, take your time and relax. You will get there.

ugh let me clarify what i'm getting at.

when the roads are WET from WET snow it's not necessary to drive 30 KM/HR under the speed limit (im in canada)

of course when the road is covered in snow or partially covered yes be cautious leave bigger gaps, don't cut off 80,000lb trucks, etc. it's common sense

i'm not an idiot just saying the one guy doing 80km/hr in a 110km/hr zone when doing the speed limit is more than safe is the guy thats pissing me off.
