... I'm not really sure why I should use a 3" tube for the GTP here since the rest of the exhaust is 2.5", but I don't really understand that much about flow and such things.

As I've been told before... by BillBoost i think... The Exhaust flow is only as good as the most constrictive part of it... meaning you can run 5" exhaust all the way back with no cat and still not flow very well if the muffler is constrictive. Id look into matching 3" to the rest from the U-bend back as your next mod

horrible, horrible idea. the stock catback is plenty good for 300+ fwhp.
