Nope, i didnt use an ipod dock. I took the change jar and cut a hole in the bottom of it just big enough for the ipod cable to be glued there. then i drilled 2 holes on either side of the ipod cable and glued the LEDs in place and for the plastic back, i cut up the plastic box that the square gen ipod nano came in and cut a notch in the bottom to fit around the ipod cable sticking through. i glued the plastic in place and then wired up everything. i soldered wires to the cigarette lighter prongs and ran a small resistor between the lighter and the switch. then from the switch i wired the LED's and thats about all. You kinda have to have a switch because i found that the cigarette lighter was always on and i didnt want the LEDs always on. This thing is pretty much all put together with super glue haha. I probably could have made it look cleaner for during the day but i was trying to keep it super cheap and i looks good at night which is all i really cared about. I can get some more pictures of it up close so you can see what im talking about

Pictures yes please. as far as the led's, i have about 20ft. of wire in my center console for various leds and audio equipment, so wiring up the leds isn't a problem. but i think all and all its, an idea that yah kinda gotta make with what you got yah no.

That's a HUMount from HUMount.com. They're a bit pricey but they're custom and you can order them with an LED light bar. You can make them say something from a list or something custom. Mine for example:

Yup ^^^ Gotta be one of the best things I've done to my car. I know it doesn't do anything but it looks great.

heres what it looks like inside the change jar. theres the ipod cable sticking through, the clear plastic back and the LEDs sticking through.

Heres the underside of the change jar. the LEDs are just glued straight to the holes that i drilled in the jar and so is the ipod cable. I have to re-solder one of the wires cause it popped loose when i took out the change jar

see thats exactly what i was thinkn, except now my biggest issue is that my gps lives in that cubby behind the change jar. and i'm trying to figure out a way that i can have both without the ipod being in the way of the gps

I'd just do mine like that buuuut, my iPod cable for my radio has buttons on the sides to release it, so I can't take it out squeezing in those.

Just pop open the end of the cable and remove the lock tabs. No more squeezin'.

I did that to my old one, but then the ipod didn't stay connected as well and would sometimes pop off a little bit while driving...
