Hey guys thanks to Nawarkk, just made a quick and simple intake. Tell me what ya think! Its not pretty but works fine and mounted the pcm pretty ghetto haha. Does anyone worry about that thing getting to hot once its not inside the stock box anymore? Thanks again Nawarkk for the "How-To"

You will definitely be pullin some real hot air, but it will sound a little cooler.

why does the hot air matter?

if you say you want low intake temperatures then youre already wrong. even on an n/a gp a short ram will net more power over a true cold air intake or FWI that will cause more restrictions.

it gets so hot it asplodes................ nothing is hot near it... in fact, the only thing it touches is some part of the A/C system that is cold as tits.

ive got mine the exact same way except i got the intake a bit farther down torwards the headlight/fender area. just got a little bit of 4" pvc tubing inbetween the elbow and intake. ive had it this way since march, got the pcm strapped down with a couple of tie wraps. works great! only 35 dollars too

If theres a whistle at part throttle you have a leak. Try tightening the clamps.

well I double checked everything and its all tight, no gaps. The sound is literally coming from the end of the filter but its not so much a whistle as it is a deep hiss. Almost like a turbo and it only happens when I accelerate. I'm almost positive its all good. What you guys think?

Mine makes a scratchy hissing noise at idle on a cold start, but it quiets down after a few minutes. I figure it's a combination of friction in the cylinders before the oil lubricates everything properly and the sound of the air passing over the the throttle plate at high idle.

im gonna have a GT soon. i will be looking to improve my MPG and performance. what type of intake should i be looking for?
is this one any good? AutoMatCentral.com - Pontiac Grand Prix Short Ram Intake System
i read some other posts on the forum about it not being 4" or whatever. and also a CAI.
what should i be looking to do if $70 is around the price i'd be willing to spend lol.

Well I would say your getting more of a power gain but honestly you won't notice it, at least I didn't. It looks and sounds better than stock. But yeah its really not a big performance booster IMO but what do I know?
