Nice, glad to help

I unplugged my MAF for cleaning and fired up the prix to see if it ran better. it idled far better in the driveway, but when i drove it it died on me twice in the 1.5 mile stretch i drove it. it died at every stop sign. I was forced to keep on the gas to keep it from dying to get it back home. SO i guess what i am really asking is what does it mean if the car runs way worse with the MAF removed?
That's normal. without the MAF the computer is running the basic air-fuel ratio for idling, so when you throttle it you won't get the right mixture because there's no sensor to tell the computer what to change.
The reason for the test is that if you unplug the MAF and start the car and there is no change or it runs better, its the MAF sensor... if it runs worse, its something else.
so the MAF disconnect test only applies to the idle? It idled so much smoother without the MAF until i drove it.
