i smell marshall whining. you are not using the system as intended.

    1. resident aka fulltime going to school on campus is not meant to house a family nor for you to have to pay rent on 2 locations. YOU choose move to where the school is and reap the basic housing allowence OR go to school on line and live where ever you choose WITHOUT BAH benifits. It seems it would make sense for you to move to a college town and collect BAH. BAH with dependents is usually a pretty fat check at a rate above the local renting typically costs.

    2. IF you choose to go use a "remote" or online type classes you are better off to stay in a branch of service and make them pay your tuition. i laughed at people when we were out in washington dc because people were using VA benifits while ON active duty! Ummm on active duty as a national guard soldier the state pays your schooling. save them precious VA resources and expend every other option 1st.

3rd. Part time as in online is meant to assume that individual would also be working therefore NOT fulltime student.

4th. I could argue for days why i think the National Guard gets their cake and eats it too. LOL you couldnt pay me enough to be active duty. micro managed too much when i get not only federal benifits for schooling but STATE benifits plus VA benifits because ive been deployed 5 times....
Ohh and I cant forget to rub it in the National Guard pays off a MUTA pay rate meaning as an e6 i pocket over 500 bucks for 3 days of work. by comparison if using that same rate 500รท3=166.66 a day for a Gurd drill weekend. Now take 166.66x15 (normal 2 week pay period for active duty)=2500 i promise you i dont make 2500 while on actuve duty in the states after taxes. including bah and all the other crap added in deployed i make over that but not stateside without the BAH.

Anyways i could go on for days why the Guard pays better provides better benifits and has less people in your ass micro managing me.

Seems to me you need to reevaluate your living situation if you wish to maximize the military benefits.....
