    Hello All!

    2008 Pontiac Grand Prix
    3.8 V6

I am having a problem with my windshield washer fluid system. It isn't giving off any juice. I took the pump off and tested it on the battery, and it was dead, so I bought a new pump. I battery tested the new one and it was working, so I Installed it, filled the tank, and it still won't work, the pump wont even operate. I tested the wiring, and it's showing a constant 10 volt signal, which increases to just over 11 when the switch button is pressed. Now I find that weird, but the switch is clearly operating something if it's changing the voltage. I'm also wondering if it has something to do with the fluid level sensor. If anyone has any ideas or experience, i'd appreciate any input.

    Thanks,
    Richard

Something does not seem right there. You should only see power at the pump when you engage the switch.

That's exactly what I'm saying. And the wiring diagram in my repair manual and the wiring in the car don't seem to match up either. The Pump works fine when I run it directly off the battery, so I have no clue whats going on.

My best guess is your switch went out, I am pretty sure you should see closer to 13-14 volts when you hit the switch.

It's worth pointing out as well that the cruise control on the car dosn't work either.

Check the third brake light(On the spoiler), sometimes those being out has caused cruise control to not work from what I've heard. Not sure if it could effect the washers, worth a try though.

The third brake light is working okay, altough it was out, but i've since fixed it, and havn't tried the cruise so I don't know. I found a wiring diagram for the wiper switch, but it seems to basically complete a circuit between a live wire and a ground on the BCM, which then somehow activates the pump. I was going to jump them together, but Something about connecting a live to a ground throws me off. Any ideas on that?

Update. Tried a new switch today, problem is still not solved. Since the wiring all seems to check out and i've tried everything else, the only thing I can think of from here is something going haywire in the BCM, in which case, I found that a wiper switch out of an 06 HHR will fit just as well in the steering column, and it uses a straight in and out 12 volt system, meaning I can run a wire from the fuse panel to the new switch, and out to the wiper motor and the pump.

Well you tested for power and said you had over 11 volts, and it worked when you jumped it. Did you just jump positive, or positive and ground? Look into the ground, make sure it's getting grounded as well as positive. If it's getting both, and it doesn't work, something you looked into isn't right.

You were saying one of the wiring diagrams didn't seem to match up. Here's Chilton's:
