wow that would be a metal stretcher wouldn't it? seen one of them on the tv one time lol only way ive seen to make 90º angle metal make turns.....

Yep that's a stretcher and shrinker, two things on the same stand. I'm new enough to it that it's still a blast to use. It would be cool to have the big stand and foot pedal for it. It can wear you out doing a "crazy straw" looking piece like that flange strip. Funny, I was distracted by a chatty co-worker and made a left side strip on the first try lol. No loss of labor, just woops made it wrong but then realized I had made the other side.
The big tool I like is the air / electric shear. It makes dudes flinch clear across the shop when you cut four foot wide 18 gauge with it... Ka-BAM! Used that to lop the strips off a sheet, trimmed them then went to the brake to put the 90 bend in them, then shaped to fit the floor edge with shrinky-stretchy, then drill press for plug weld holes. I'll make strips for the top also, and basically just move the existing vertical wheel well section inward with those filling the gap. I'm enjoying being mean to the old Ford. This is the kind of work I dreamed of doing as a kid.
I used a couple more cool tools now, a roller and air planishing hammer. Making "tub-ettes" for the red '33.
New dudes at work are harshing my mellow, theres 3 of them. Late teens to early twenties. With the boss gone for a week, its babysitting.
Went to get pics and inspect this very unfortunate wreck... this one was very much like how I would build one. I fixed a small crunch on the left rear a few years back. It was beautiful and just juicy hot. In anticipation of the following questions... my bet is that it will be sold wrecked but before you ask... NO! Ha. Its fresh, the owner was not driving or riding in it, and is in heartbroken shock about it. There was no blood but I assure you the repairs to pre-accident condition are beyond the value. It won't die, of course. Somebody will probably fix it. Subframe is kinked, A-pillar moved a bunch, passenger dash caved from knees, etc. I think the big block could be OK but a hit like this can do wierd stuff to an engine. Accessory brackets are wrapped around it.
you fixed that fast!
The yellow '68 got away with no glam shots. Was pulling out on a trailer when I showed up the other day. Pretty sure I'll get another photo opp but it might be a month or two. This was the last pic I took, while dude was fabbing a purge line.
I got the tub tuck on the '33 finished yesterday. Quarter patch panels and new rockers are the next task in line on that one. Since my fellow bodyman broke his leg I have been surrounded by pretty much idiots, all new and young and with stellar opinions of themselves. Boss went to SEMA last week and I nearly blew a gasket babysitting.
Yulp. Poosy and sloots and bald eagle whiz. If theres any missing pics that broke GPF hearts, mouse over them and list the file names for me.
so much clean
Its kind of funny how other people made you have a freak attack and you went nuts. But hey, I make people flip sht all the time
Freak attack and go nuts might be a little on the strong side. I was planning to just stop posting already due to yes being crazy (the wrecks did some mental damage that ain't going away), but yep somebody mashed the piss me off button one too many times. Only reason I've put back some Camaro pics is because elderly folks were upset over them being missing. You can say hissy fit about me and I won't deny it, my thing is I try to contain the temper wreckage to myself and things I own.
