Same here. I know when its beyond my limits. I can weld better than that and I am not good. Holy Crap. I would love to know what shop did that. There is prob a thread on some forum somewhere if we searched enough. I don't envy what you have ahead of this to fix it without chopping the panels off and starting over. From what I see, I would want a new roof, but you may know better if that can be salvaged.

Aww. Fellow GPFers speaking in soothing tones, I like that lol.

Sear your retinas on this 34 Ford that I don't think we did at the shop, and thank you very much-

Wow. I think I want one, thats badass! it came in today for this-n-that.

Got a few progress pics from the Chevy but man, I'm about out of free hosting space. Had to knock down some vids to make room. I'll put something up eventually.

Driver's door fitment. I stuck the front end back on. The door is open just a little on the pic fron the rear. A few tricks were required but everything actually went relatively well. The rocker is just a bad fit and almost rubs at the bottom front. I will trim the door edge for clearance and to correct the gap, because thats the lesser evil. Had to tweak both fender and door structure but only a very slight amount. Tweak means grab at two places and bend or twist to adjust shape of panel.

Of course the bottom fender bolt was snapped off and rusted in the body below the cowl area. Didn't have any trouble drilling the bolt out but I had to work real carefully with the tap. Good as new.

The top of the fender is supposed to be below the door top because a molding makes up the space. But the tip of this fender is just made sloppy. Compare it to the GM fender at the bottom of the pic stack.

That's a different car for comparison, probably a GM fender.

Scotty heres how to fix wide door gaps. Get you some TIG rod, and...

By the way I took the door off after this and am doing same to back of the edge. I also welded up spots where the skin split when I grinder'ed it for clearance when the door opens, and at the place where it was hitting the rocker. More later. Sorry you gotta stand on your ear to view most of these but I can't control what the forum does to them rotation-wise.

you are the muther fvcking master.

i bow to you. for real, nice work there.

thats the thing about body work, no one ever see's what it took to make the paint lay flat, the body gaps and all. its art work really.

I was thinking the same thing. I've tried body work in the past, and I found out quickly that I don't have the patience for it.

    Looking forward to more.

It's just like anything else that someone does for a length of time. You get the hang of it. Panel alignment is so 3 dimensional and unforgiving in some cases that it presents challenges even with lots of experience. That's when the artist comes out with a bag-o-trix and shouldn't be disturbed. The pics are here to show what you could do if you tried, not to discourage you from trying. Trouble is, W-bodies aren't worth as much as a can of paint no matter what has been done. So why bother? It's not like they wouldn't look great modified.

Thats a bigass muffhuggin bag yo.

Once all the welding and grinding was done, heres what I ended up with on the driver's door-

Passenger side had the opposite problem, gaps kinda tight. You can't see both sides at once, lol. I have adjusted and trimmed it and theres some welding to be done at the bottom and top front corners but just smaller spots, and not adding any material on this side.

I'm probably gonna add a rod to the quarter at the top to close up this wedge shaped gap above the handle-

Ground off a little too much on the bottom but it will work out fine-

I'd like to start on those trunk gaps but Monday I'm starting to build up the Mustang and on Fridays we do 1 o'clock...

Thanks. I figured if the door gaps were decent the first time the customer visits, thats a step in the right direction. Who knows when he will step in for a peek.
