I've never been out on the ocean in a boat. Just small inlets/intercoastal or whatever they're called.

On the lake (well at least at our end, the "redneck" end of the lake) water is fairly calm and there's a decent amount of boat traffic on any given day. Mostly pontoons and 20 something foot runabouts. On the other end of the lake there are million dollar houses and 45'+ power boats and cruisers. Water's not so calm down there lol. We've been towed back to our dock more times than I can count too, stuck in storms, 100 degree heat, you name it lol. But if by chance there is no one else out you cab call MO water patrol and they'll tow you back. Not sure how much that costs tho.

not that calm? define rough. ive been in 12 foot sea's under the verrazano bridge thought we were all dead, i never had to work the throttle so much in my life it was like surfing with a 4,000 lb board. 6 foot seas in the hudson river. ran aground in sand hook bay. took out a prop and out drive at low tide putting it back on the trailer, $1800 lesson learned that day lol once again get insurance for your boat lol i used it often.

then there were the very rare days where the river and harbor would be a sheet of glass. most of the time the harbor is more like a washing machine, waves have no real pattern they come from every angle, so trim the prop down to put nose down and plow on.

2 to 3 foot chop i could get my boat up on top and boogie. if any bigger it was a slow hard day. also had this boat out of the water more then id like. catching air is fun, but if you land on a wave wrong ouch lol it like hitting a wall. sounds like it too.

My friend's grandpa used to own a Marina down on the lake, he had a 40something foot 1,000hp Scarab. He hit a wave wrong one day ended up coming down on the side of the boat and broke his back. He ended up fully recovering but sold the boat and then the marina a few years later lol.

Scotty I saw a woman load a speed boat in the trailer, her husband took off to pull the boat out with the prop all the way down. It ground a line in the concrete. The husband was a wee upset.

Iv always ran 87 in mine, I ran 93 for a month as an experiment and noticed no change in KR so I went back.

I have had such an unproductive day. I didn't wake up until around 10 (was out until 2:30). I bummed around, only went outside to get the mail. I fell back asleep on and off until almost 6:00. I haven't even eaten a meal today only snacked on some Doritos all day.
