Soo is your buddy gonna fix the other car?
|
That's the plan. He wanted to pay, but I dunno the situation. The Dart and gtr will need to have a fair offer met on the work.. I think 1/2 is fair but I have no idea what's going on.
Looks like the dodge got it on both sides, ouch. I know some guys that would do a beat down right there.
1/2 is fair? Not a chance... Doesn't matter ****y conditions, whatever...
Bottom line is HE lost control and owns responsibility for it, or will you argue the other car should've gotten out of the way? Or because he was racing accepts 1/2 the risk no matter? Because I'd bet my house your buddy would feel 100% my way if the other guy trashed his car losing traction, lol. Rules are, you gotta pay if you want to play. Considering there's video of the accident, if it went to court your buddy would lose.
As mentioned, he should just be glad it wasn't any worse, sucks no matter what.
Lol. I said I don't know how much will be paid. I don't know **** about 68 dodge darts. I have no idea what it is to fix it. 5000?? 25000?
As far as suing. That's laughable as they signed a no fault waiver which basically Makes every driver responsible for damage to their car, as well as waives any insurance for Any car at the track... Also protects the city from being sued as well as the promoter of this event... So technically he doesn't have to pay a dime. But he's not like that... If the Dart driver had the mentality of some members in here and it was my gtr, I'd tell you to f off...
He signed the paper knowing this could happen... Sucks for him but for you guys to just go off on someone over an "accident" is stupid.... If he took a baseball bat to the car sure he would owe 100%.. But this is an accident... In drag racing... It happens.
The dodge is far from totaled. But like I said. I agree with your points, but if the Dart owner was talking like some members here, like pay me now, fix what you did or else..... Yea that would go over well. U gotta realize I feel bad for the guy in the Dart too! It's just not as personal because I know the bs the gtr owner had to go through over the past 4-5 months.. And all the time money and long road trips down south to have it fixed everything it broke...
I know the Dart wasn't cheap either, but I just don't know what he went through..
Both awesome cars, and feel sorry for both parties. I hope an agreement is worked out, so the Dart owner is happy..
If it was me I'd talk to him and see what he would want me to pay for and how soon he needed it done... Not a lot of ppl can just pull$10,000+ out of their ass on a days notice
I know they had a total of almost $140,000 into the gtr so it's not like they don't have their own monstrous headache to deal with already..
I'll keep an update going as soon as I see any progress or hear anything
You don't get it... Signing anything does not remove your rights.
Taking a baseball bat and damaging someone else's property and what happened as an ACCIDENT is all the same, apples and apples. It's cool if he's a stand up guy and works it out to both parties satisfaction, but he owns it no matter what you think. The waivers aren't worth the paper they're written on, lol.
*on a side note, the tough guy F-off wouldn't end well either, just sayin ; )
Really is a sucky situation no matter what, like I said, thank goodness nothing worse (injuries). Hope it all works out.
I hear what you guys are saying tho.. I'd be pissed and the Dart was a nice car... But what if it was some 18 year old kid in a Honda civic who works at McDonald's who smacked the Dart? He'd have to work for 2years to pay the repair bill on that thing!
When your racing you have no rights...thats the risk you take. No one is going to force anyone to pay anything.
I've been racing for over 15 years and have seen this situation occur too often...the manly thing to do is step up and help cover the other guys damage as best as possible if it was your fault.
As I said above the car was staged crooked.
Cars with this much power racing on a poorly prepped track need to be staged properly in the groove...someone should have been up there to help him.
First off.. I want to know what kit is in the car. Be it an alpha or Switzer kit.
Second, is the transmission built and what axles is he running?
Third, what tires were those and what size? Because they look wayyy to small.
