Been up since the crack of noon sir!

I never played with a rc cycle, I prefer 4 wheels or a rudder

That ruckus would have horrible turn radius vs the stampede, the ruckus would look cooler fish tailing out of a turn

The Ruckus doesn't look out of scale like the Stampede does when out bashing. The Stampedes wheel base looks odd compared to the size of the truck. I am sure once I do the wide mod it will help it not look so weird.

It's not too much to change about $30 in parts.

You would probably want an entry level rtr.
If you are going electric get something brushless, brushed motors are slow and just plain crap imho.
Nitro can be fun but they are a little more tedious when it comes to breaking them in and maintenance.
Do you want a buggy, a truggy, a short course truck, a stadium truck, or a monster truck? Monster trucks and truggies seem to make for better bashers.

Still a noob, a brushed can be faster than a brushless. A aftermarket brushed (more racer status) you would have to have the comm cut brushes replaced etc, brushless is a sealed unit that requires nothing. Speed is in the gearing and battery.

Im not a racer so I dont do comm cuts or anything, I charge and drive, but I also dont buy $8 540's

There are quite a few brushed motors in the $20-$30 range that are supposed to be very good and rebuildable.
Brushed motors seemed to work very well for rock crawlers.
For the average Joe a brushless motor will work better than a brushed.
But from my own experience and from numerous threads around the interwebs the brushed motors that come with most RTRs are complete crap and you have to gear down the vehicles so that the motors do not overheat,
just do a Google search on the Titan 550 12T. The brushless systems are hands down a night and day difference.

The titans are actually junk motors

Cheaper rc models will NOT come with high end brushed motors, they come with cheap junk

brushed vs brushless isnt just a swap in and be faster, V and G determine that.

Search the web you will find LOTS of threads where people put a brushless system in and it was NOT faster.

Apples to apples a brushless is more efficient and doesnt need to be serviced.

These are by far the biggest pros that brushless have over brushed motors, there is a reason that the guys doing speed runs use brushless systems. Each motor type has applications where they are better than the other. For straight bashing I feel a brushless setup is the better choice.
When I said that the brushed vs brushless is a night and day difference I was meaning like the difference between an XL-5 Stampede and the VXL Stampede.
And Cory, Castle has a program where you can send them your old electronics and they will sell you a setup at a discounted price. I wish I would have known that before I upgraded the Ruckus. I'm gonna trade in my XL-5 out of the Pede for another Castle Sidewinder. Should be like $80-$90.

And PS you said pretty much the exact same thing I did about brushed RTRs lol

Spent $20 and upgraded the electronics in the mini Ruckus. Still waiting on the rx/tx that Fedex felt the need to send 900 miles across the country in the wrong direction.

So I decided that I want to get a 1/5th scale gas buggy. Now I have brought it down to 2 choices.
Choice 1. Is the King Motor KSRC-001 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5-King-Mot...cAAOSwwbdWQeQ2
Choice 2. Is the Redcat Racing Dunerunner http://www.ebay.com/itm/RedCat-Racin...oAAOSwxYxUyaGt

    Pros for the King Motor
    • HPI clone so spare parts are everywhere and can be purchased at the LHS
    • HPI clone so it has aftermarket parts support
    • Costs 1/2 the price of the HPI 5B

    Cons for the King Motor
    • Only 2WD

    Pros for the Redcat
    • 4WD
    • 32cc vs 30.5cc of the KM

    Cons
    • Its a Redcat, so all parts would have to be ordered online
    • Redcat does not have as large of an aftermarket.

I already have 3 monster trucks, hence the reason I posted buggies. But I am leaning towards the Redcat, just because it is 4wd. King motor does make a 4x4 but its belt driven 4wd and its $800.
