Looking at how much labor is involved in changing the heater core in the truck, I will be having it done. This sucks because the van is also broke and waiting to go into the shop. Thinking I should have kept the GP........................

I did the heater core in my '97 Grand Am GT, and I wasn't right in the head for 3 days...basically spent SEVERAL hours standing on my head trying to get that thing replaced...man, that sucked.

Tis why I will have my mechanic do it. I will bypass the core until it gets fixed on Monday. Really thinking the GP would have been a safe bet to keep.

She called two other mechanics. One came back $1000, other came back $725... dead on the money for my estimate. Tires Plus is now "price matching" the $725 and waiving a fee or two...lol. But now we know who her new mechanic will be once this job is done.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
