HAs any one on here ever used water instead of seafoam as a topend cleaner

I was reading on another forum that guys were doing that
ANd even mixing a little atf into it

Doing atf water mix then run the car hard for 5 min then doing straight water and drive normally

Sounded interesting But im ify about putting water in my engine like that

Altho gm top end cleaner does have a high water content

Never heard of that, interested to see if it works. A friend of mine was telling me about some thing gumount makes that you put in the gas thank but it cleans out the heads and everything, I don't really get how that works but he said it did, just had black smoke coming from the exhaust instead of the white from seafoam.

I have heard something like that, to do with the steam cleaning it, but there is no way in hell I would ever do it to MY car!

Gotta love the good ole sea foam, put that in my 88 ranger and smoked out my block. After pulling out of my driveway i bet i left a smoke trail to the edge of town, but man was the difference noticeable.

I have heard of spraying ATF from a squirt bottle creating a mist that gets mixed with the air entering the engine but no way pouring ANY liquid down the intake. Great way to ruin an engine.

I've used the water/atf mix on an older sbc and it really seemed to clean it out. Then I did it to the GTP and didn't seem to do anything. It's an alternative method that I think works though.

Stick with the seafoam. It has a good reputation. 2/3 in gas tank and rest through brake booster vac line. Let sit 10 min, then go beat on it for while. There will probably lots of smoke in the mirrors!!
